Has anyone tried the above new printer that Canon came out with? I was wondering what the photo print quality looked like. It's a great idea if the quality is good. I spend over $1,000 a year on ink used in my $80.00 printer.

As a CMYK, 4 ink system, it is designed for high volume business graphics.
While it will print photos, there are better options out there if that is your primary concern.

If you go to the Tamron site you can put in the serial number of your lens and it will show if it can be firmware updated. I recently purchased a used 150-600 from B&H and I found it could not be firmware updated. B&H also checked and allowed me to return the lens.

Look at the membership plans.
Click on "Join Now". It will take you to a page with several options.
The Full plan includes $15k of insurance. Click on the "+Details" to the right of the plan for everything that is included.
At the bottom of that page are links:
"Membership Comparison Chart | Additional membership options: Additional Active Membership"
There you can get more info.

Good looking lures.

The first pain was an old camera pain. I started the hike with my Z7 w/24-700 in my backpack and the D500 w/18-400 around my neck, the plan being to have that at the ready and pull out the Z7 when we found the bluebells we were hunting. The first time I lifted it to my eye, I see a dead battery indicator. When I replaced the battery this morning I failed to make sure the replacement battery was charged. Ok, so I put the D500 in the backpack and pull out the Z7. Now I’ve barely scratched the surface with the Z7 but I’m loving it, but today it’s acting wonky. First shot looks normal. Next shit the viewfinder is dark. I fiddle with EC, take the shot, the viewfinder looks way over exposed. I fumed first a minute before I remembered I hade been shooting 5 shot brackets with 2 stops between shots. Ok, I go in and turn off bracketing. Everything is good for a while, then my exposure is all over the place. I go to take a shot, the EC is +1.3, I fix it take the shot. Next time I look the EC is -0.7. I spent about 10 minutes shooting and composing that the EC kept changing before it hit me. I had been playing with different settings and set the manual focus ring on the lens to handle EC. Every time I inadvertently touched the focus ring I was changing the EC. I like the idea, just wish I’d remembered I’d done it. Growing pains! 😜🤪

I am not "Nikon" familiar, however does the Z7 have the ability to store custom settings?
If so, I would suggest doing so. BTW, 24-700mm???? 24-70mm??

Having too much diversity, with gear, can be a bad thing if each camera has its own set of special features. IMHO, the learning curve is unnecessarily steep.
Couple that with multiple carrying bags and backpacks, duplication of accessories, excitement etc and it can make for a very frustrating trip.

Good luck on your next outing.

I’ve searched for answers here and online. Canon support says there is no EOS Utilities for Catalina.
My requirement is to use EOS camera w OBS Studio for streaming.

Have you tried using the latest version?
Did Canon say that the current software will not work or that there isn't a specific product for Catalina?

I appreciate your response. You seem knowledgeable.... If I select a pre-built, does it matter if I get a Intel or AMD based system? Should I get a GeForce, RTX or a Radion graphics card? I have heard that RTX cards do not work well with Adobe products. Has that changed?

The answer lies in what is recommended for the software you intend to use.
Seriously, do this research yourself. Contact the software mfg's if you can't find the info on the websites.
Do the grass roots research yourself, don't rely on others including me.
I do not mean to be a jerk about this, however doing this research will assure several things:

1- Get the info from the experts you care about. The people that wrote and provide the software you use.
2- You will gain experience and knowledge.
3- The information you get will be accurate and unbiased.
4- You will end up with a system that you know will meet or exceed your needs.

I have been building my own computer systems since the mid 80's, however the last system I built and still use is 6 years old. It still meets my needs, I am also a wildlife photographer.

I use different software from you and have not done any recent research since I built my system, therefore I can't answer your questions regarding what is new and best for your situation.

I, however, followed my own research advice 6.5 years ago and am still able to use the system I built. It took half a year to do the research and gather the components for the build. The actual build took the better part of a weekend. This included building, checking, testing and burning in. As you can see, after you do your initial research, buying from a big name company saves a lot of time and nets the same result.

Success in this project.

This is my first attempt at building a system. Please help me and my son get a system together that will enable me to move large numbers (I am a bird photographer) of images through Adobe's Bridge, LR and PS software. I also use Topaz's AI software (Sharpen, focus and gigapixel) so that needs consideration. I want this to be upgrade-able and do NOT want the bare minimum. I already have that in a laptop that can not be up graded.
Thanks for your help!

Please, do yourself a favor, research the minimum and recommended hardware spec's of the software you use. Then search for a pre-built system that exceeds those spec's.
If you insist on doing this yourself, learn about:

1- Processors
2- Overclocking and processor cooling schemes.
3- Video Cards and coolers
4- Case cooling schemes, including fans and baffles.
5- Ram Memory and coolers
6- Power Supplies
7- Neat wiring schemes using the case you choose
8- Being a Detail oriented person, if you are not already
9- Availability of the items you will put into the computer and supply locations
10- Motherboards
11- Solid State Drives
12- Large Capacity SATA Drives

Knowledge of all of the above will enable you to achieve your goal. All of this takes time and a desire to learn, or you can get a pre-built system.
If you decide to buy pre-built, do your own research of what is out there and do not take the recommendations of people on this site. You will end up with as many recommendations as there are people on the site, including me, and it will muddy the waters for you. I would also suggest sticking with big name builders and not small computer companies you find on line. Find someone local that you can go to for upgrades and repairs.

Good Luck.

Hi All,

I have a large collection of Nikon lenses, Point-n-Shoot Cameras and Camera bodies plus an unbelievable amount of other accessories, High-End filters and more. They came from a good friend that passed about a year ago. I have been able to sell some of it but my current audience has purchased all they seem to want.

This is not a commitment but I wanted some feedback about this company regarding reliability and paying a fair/reasonable price.

Just temper your expectations.
Remember, these stores need to make a living by reselling the gear they buy, don't expect the same price quote from the stores as you may have received by selling privately.
All the stores provide an "On line quote". If you are honest regarding the description, you can price shop.
Then look at Ebay for the same eq. and see what the market is willing to pay. Don't be shocked by the difference.

From "Livescience.com"
By Rachael Rettner - Senior Writer January 29, 2020

"In the study, published today (Jan. 29) in the journal The Lancet, the researchers analyzed 10 genome sequences of the novel coronavirus, dubbed 2019-nCoV, obtained from nine patients in China who were sick with the virus.
They found that all 10 of the genome sequences were extremely similar — they shared more than 99.98% of the same genetic sequence, the authors said. This suggests the virus made its "jump" to humans very recently, because if that jump had happened long ago, the virus sequences would have differed more, given the fast rate at which viruses tend to mutate and evolve.

"It is striking that the sequences of 2019-nCoV described here from different patients were almost identical," study co-lead author Weifeng Shi, a professor at the Key Laboratory of Etiology and Epidemiology of Emerging Infectious Diseases in Universities of Shandong Province, affiliated with Shandong First Medical University, said in a statement. "This finding suggests that 2019-nCoV originated from one source within a very short period and was detected relatively rapidly."

To learn more about the virus' origins, the researchers compared the 2019-nCoV genetic sequence with those in a library of viral sequences, and found that the most closely related viruses were two coronaviruses that originated in bats; both of those coronaviruses shared 88% of their genetic sequence with that of 2019-nCoV. (When compared with two other coronaviruses known to infect people — SARS and MERS — 2019-nCoV shared about 79% of its genetic sequence with SARS and 50% with MERS.) Based on these results, the authors said the 2019-nCoV likely originated in bats. However, no bats were sold at the Huanan seafood market, which suggests that another yet-to-be-identified animal acted as a steppingstone of sorts to transmit the virus to humans.

"It seems likely that another animal host is acting as an intermediate host between bats and humans," said study co-lead author Guizhen Wu, of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Overall, the outbreak of 2019-nCoV "again highlights the hidden virus reservoir in wild animals and their potential to occasionally spill over into human populations," the authors wrote.

A previous study suggested snakes, which were sold at the Huanan seafood market, as a possible source of 2019-nCoV. However, some experts have criticized the study, saying it's unclear if coronaviruses can infect snakes. "

I gave my grandson a new computer a couple of months ago. He hasn't used it lately and has forgotten the password to get on. I know the password is located in DOS somewhere but I need someone to walk me through getting there. When the computer is off and you first turn it on, I know you hit some key like f11 constantly until DOS comes up -- it has been so long since I did something like this I'm lost as to how to locate the password.
Thanks in advance to my knowledgeable friends!

If we can presume it is Windows 10, he either created a local username and password or used a Microsoft account.
Does he use outlook, hotmail etc. for his email. If so, as stated earlier, the log in is the same as his email.
If he doesn't remember the password for the email, it can always be changed. The changed password would be the new log in Password. Of course, this would need to be done from another computer.

If it was Windows 8.x, then chances are it was a local user name and pw.

A good practice is to have a second, administrator level user created. These credential should be kept with a parent.
This way, should it happen again the parent can log in and reset the password.
