Please be aware that I had a Canon 400 mm f:5.6L lens and case stolen in a "smash and grab" from my truck while parked at a walking trail in western Washington.

It's one of the "white" lenses from Canon and was in the original Canon lens case.

The serial number is: 156575

If you run across it, please call the Pierce County Sheriff at 1-253-798-4944

I appreciate this forum, and all of you photogs!

So sorry to hear this! What a punk.

For this reason I never carry my big lenses in their cases in the vehicle, they are often too hard to conceal. I always carry a large black blanket and place all gear not on me in the back of the SUV and cover with the blanket. People are generally honest but there is always going to be that one bad apple in the basket.

I carry my gear in a gym bag hoping a crook will think all I have is smelly gym socks!

Diaper bags are also a good choice; many of them have multiple pockets and compartments, ideal for organizing camera gear.

Your auto insurance might cover it.

it might, but having insurance on your photo gear is always a safe bet. I have $25,000 worth of insurance on all of my gear through PPA and it costs me about $5 a month.

A black blanket or piece of flannel ( from the fabric departmet at WM or whereever)
Covering whatever you have lying on the floor of your vehicle. Preferably the whole floor.
If they cant see anything, they generally wont bother.

Can you pls advise on a membership fee, etc. The site deliberately thwarts attempts at seeking info, rather than immediately clicking the ‘Join Now’ link.
