My club had a January challenge wherein people would post the same composition, or as close as that human can do it, one taken by their smartphones and the other with their best digital camera.
Some were lower cost cameras and older iPhones etc. but several sets had the latest from Google and Apple. These were up against Sony and Fuji full frame mirrorless.
We could choose one or the other or choose " too close to call"
The shots taken in low light had the smartphones almost 2 to 1. Granted no flash was used on any.
The shots where a greater DoF was expected the cameras had it 1.5 to 1.
Others had too close to call as the most frequently made choice.
We all know the advantage of the smartphones starting with the old adage the best camera is the one you have with you as well as its multipurpose function such as texting and even talking.
So if you have a similar experience I'd love to read your reply. If you would like to speculate could you kindly post your own topic.
Thanks

I thought I'd lost a rare photo of a large mushroom ( I'm into rare mushrooms big time ) and was delighted to see it in Apple's icloud storage. Yes when it works on our behalf tech is great but too many times it confounds and even infuriates us, right?

I use Luminar heavily and am a big fan of Jim Nix's very helpful videos. These are welcome upgrades to Luminar. My wish list is to be able to batch process bracketed images (HDR) like Aurora HDR does......amazing that Skylum continues to upgrade their software considering they're based in Ukraine.

Try Washington State not Ukraine.

Think what is the name of the stadium where the NFL Seattle Seahawks play.

I'm curious where you got this disinformation. Chinese influencer or from Russia maybe?

Sony rep here in Calgary actually spoke to me with the answer being only use one type of image stabilizer technology and don't combine them. Also, don't use IS or in Sony lingo OSS when shooting long exposures because the camera will start to search while the exposure is running.

The industry for the manufacture of SD cards have collaborated on building an app nicely title SDFormatter.
I have used this on well over 100 cards coming and going to Nikon, Canon and Sony cameras. One of its best features is dealing with corrupted sectors on the card. These often are the culprits causing errors scubas what is being discussed here. The app analyzes all sectors and if it finds one or more that are not completely functioning properly it deletes the sector so that it will not be "seen" by the camera and is never used.
My record so far is 24 formattings on one card that has been used in 7 different cameras.
I highly recommend all photographers use this app.
Of course regular at minimum double source backups are also part of my procedure and I have yet to loose one image that the camera "claimed" was there. Yes, this included the hundreds of bloopers.

Less than a week ago a member posted concerns about focus function not working properly on a Sony A6000. A response was made that included 3 links to knowledgeable people who were described as able to cover this topic very well for this camera.
Try as I may including launching the link that is sent to me daily for the last 9 days I was not successful in locating these links.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
btw the daily launch url although it includes the date actually launches the current offering.
Thank you for reading my request.

Not to be too late in replying Haha. It was a flat style as opposed to the ball type that came on a Triopo tripod.
The error was human kind I was to learn later. I had not screwed the securing plate tightly enough.
Sorry for the delay.

Are you sure you come from Missouri? Your knowledge of freezing water in contained circumstances make me think you once lived in Canada. Excellent advice.
Might I add, most furnaces using natural gas and therefore an external vent for combustion fail when that vent is choked with ice created by repetitions of cold air in and slowly warmer moister air coming back when the furnace is not burning.
Speaking of frozen water lines here in Calgary Alberta we are responding to 232 underground frozen potable water lines. It has been minus 20 to -30 C for 5 days and then Christmas bouncing up to +4. Love those Chinooks but I can not imagine how many more lines will be needing repairs. These tend to be located in subdivisions built in the 1940's and are just plain old or earlier in the 2000's when the bylaw was changed to allow mains to be buried only 4 feet deep.
