I Need "Snow"

I'm trying to make a snow globe, but I can't find "snow" that sinks. I bought a bag of it, but it floats on the surface. Looking at all the Q&A online, it seems that everything floats. I ordered some glitter, but it won't arrive till next week.

Do any of you have any experience making snow globes that work as they should?

When I was a kid we used crushed moth balls for the snow in homemade snow globes.

Can't help you. Here we need real snow like the Alps are missing due to climate change.

The problem was the snow. I should have gotten crushed glass. I ordered some, but it will take a week to get here.

Like GPappy, my sister made a snow "globe" using moth flakes and water in a baby-food jar. The flakes were probably easier for little hands.

It worked! Never had any moths in that jar!

Thanks for that! If moths appear in the globes, I'll know what to do.

Hey Jerryc41, was just wondering if you've ever heard of growing small bits of stoker coal into a multi colored dish of crystals ? My grandmother tought me how to do this by using coal chips, salt, water, ammonia and misc. colors of laundry bluing. In just a few days it was in full bloom.

I remember doing something like that when I was a kid. It was like magic. I found a source for "sinkable snow" - National Artcraft

I'm patient, but I'm not patient enough to wait for snow to grow.

I'm a few hours away from Pennsylvania, so obtaining coal would be a problem. : )
