Hi again,
Being new, I have many questions. I have D3300 and a Nikon 18-200mm, would the purchase of 50mm be a good choice? I mostly shoot landscapes. Thank you.

I have the 18-200, and would get a used Tokina 11-16mm (=16-24mm). Great for landscapes and including foreground content. A great lens!! I would not take off the 18-200 to mount a redundant 50mm. If you want to get into primes start with a focal length you don't have like 20mm or 300mm.

I have read many posts and watched instructional videos and almost every pro says using ISO settings below 200 is where they prefer to shoot -- even in dark conditions. I understand that very high ISO settings tend to introduce noise, but going up to 1200 or 2400 with a camera that goes up to 12000 seems like it should not be a problem. Why do so many limit their ISO below 200?

Not best but better but not at the cost of needed shutter speed of aperture settings.

Yesterday I was out shooting with the 7DII, 600 f4 plus 1.4TC.
(I have just posted a couple of shots under the post title of "Leucistic Sika Deer").
The shots were at approx. Half a mile. Sky overcast. Temperature approx. 12 Degrees Celcius.
I suspect I need to micro adjust this setup but I can't see that it would result in much better images.
My question is:- Is it realistic or not, to expect sharp images at this distance?
Thanks in anticipation.

Please look at the photos of Charles Gazer here where he usually post his settings. I feel he proves with his work that shutter speed trumps ISO.

Did you shoot hand held, if so shutter speed 1/400th is slow for this focal length. Did you use a tripod?

A member wants to sell a lens and has 11 replies already about spelling not his lens. How about sending a PM if you want to be helpful, otherwise I with IBM.

If you own a D800 how do you like it?

I have an 800e, would not buy D800 unless it was the "e" or get the d810. Love!!

I am headed to Europe this summer. I can only bring one lens and one body. I will bring my 28-300 lens to cover as broad a range as I can but I am struggling as to whether to bring my D610 (FX) or D500 (DX). That is, will I be happier preserving the wider angle (28mm) and use the full frame or, enhancing the telephoto end by using the crop factor body? I don't think any of the bells and whistles offered by the new D500 impact the decision for tourist photography. What would you choose?

Europe needs a wide angle lens. Not having wider then 28mm is a sin. For me I would want full frame and 16-24mm.

I'm part of a bird club. One of our members was feeding a red tailed hawk on a regular basis to get photos. The hawk got so use to it, that the hawk was knocking the hat off his head when he showed up. The hawk had to be rescued and it turned out it was a rescued hawk that was released years earlier. I also heard of people flushing out Snowy owls resting on Jones Beach for the sake of photo. So to me there is a limit to interference of nature for photos. That said, I play bird songs in my yard and put out seed all year long.

I am posting 2 photos that I printed on metal 24x36. I want to hang them as a pair. Woodstorks is crisp, but the Sandhill Cranes is slightly out of focus. Your thoughts please Hogs. Didn't realize before printed. For future prints, can this be remedied?
Thank you,
Lynn

With birds if the eye isn't tack sharp then it's no way for me but you have to like it so..
I like the photo so much if it were mine I would make it a watercolor in PSCC.

Hello everyone, soon I'll buy a Nikon d7100 (only the body)currently I have a Nikon d90 with the 18-200 dx vr lens,my question is,should I keep it and use it with the d7100 or should I buy another one, resuming,is it a good lens or not??? I will appreciate any suggestions or opinions(English is my second language sooo, sorry if you see something weird)

I would keep the lens and not look to "replace" it.
I think it would be best to add on to the kit with the Tokina 11-16 for wide angle shots and/or a Nikon 300mm for wildlife.
The 35mm 1.8 is nice if you want a low light lens.

Stay away from Gray. Always ask the dealer if it has either a CUSA or NUSA warranty with it. Don't be fooled if they say it has a one year warranty. It could be a generic warranty. It is not worth the cost savings to buy gray. Most legit dealers like Hunts in Melrose, MA. , B&H, and others do not sell gray. With pre-owned you should always ask the owner where they purchased the product and to see a copy of the warranty card, whether it is in warranty or not.

B+H DOES SELL GREY!!! side by side with USA, They call it imported. Here is some that comes both ways and look at the words in the links "GREY"
