Have previously had similar problems with Yahoo and Gmail. Got AOL account years ago and have had no problems and find it much easier to move around among private folders, also.

Have experience using a Canon SX720 HS. Very pocketable, 24-960 zoom, 20mp, 3.3-6.9, great color and sharpness with Wi-Fi. On Amazon for under $300. Don’t leave home without it. The G7X MKII is a very little bit larger with a faster 1.8-2.8 lens but a 24-100 mm and with Wi-Fi. A lot of similarities but the G7X MKII is $629+ and only a little thicker but has better glass IMHO. That does not lessen the excellence of the SX720, however. Good luck on a fun trip as the zoom is probably something you will want for the wildlife, etc.

Have owned the G7x MII for a year and it is my go-to equipment. I do not photo for sales or large copy; simply travel, landscapes, street, family and grandchildren portraits. Can’t say enough good things about it. As always, cameras are a personal choice and should fit the person’s lifestyle and physical abilities and likes/dislikes for size, weight, etc. I have 95% ceased to use my DSLR. The G7X MKII lens is outstanding IMHO. Have experience with Canon EOS, various Powershots, and limited Nikon DSLRs and months leading up to the G7X MKII tested Sony, Panasonic, and Leica compacts, bridges, and point and shoots. Have not been disappointed with my selection. Some choices available are up to double the price of the G7X MKII and to me do not provide added value for my needs.

Amazon has recently had Canon SX720 for around $250 new. Great camera with excellent zoom. Camera is intuitive. Lightweight, versatile and dependable. Quality construction. However, does not have a viewfinder but screen is better than most.

Appreciate the great responses from all. I enjoy the technical and common sense observations from you at UHH. Hoping for great travel. Thanks.

Will soon be going and soliciting advice on must take shots and lens that may be needed for great landscape photos. Traveling with Canon G7X MII And EOS T1i with kit lens. Feel like I may need a more capable lens but not interested in “L” quality for my use. Have been satisfied with equipment I have but interested in knowing if there is a “huge” uptick in better glass. Open to suggestions and budget under 1k. Thanks in advance.

Can’t argue with other recommendations—I think all agree we enjoy our gear for various reasons. I tested some of the mentioned but found the G7X MK II to be my choice and the “Best Bang for the Buck” at under $700. Has not disappointed. The G1 Xiii has a few more pixels, but also costs a few hundred dollars more. The G7X II is more compact and lighter.A very good fit.

Great equipment. This has become my walk around/everyday and mostly travel camera. The results are as awesome as the ease of use. Have not experienced any problem with the G7X being allowed in events or places I attend. Menu is intuitive and manual capabilities abound. Nice fast lens. The only drawback for me is the limited zoom range; however, I have found the majority of my shots (90+ per cent) don’t require anything this camera can’t deliver. I have found the color saturation to be extremely nice and more than acceptable.

Went though this process several months back and tried several-Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Leica, etc. Settled on Canon G7x Mark II and have not regretted. There are compromises with each decision and you will choose your comfort level. Size alone with quality and good zoom is Leica C (Type 112); Panasonic’s have great zoom and I agree that Sony menus not my favorite either. Canon G7X hit most my high marks; have it with me all the time. Quality is on level with my DSLR which I now use less and less.

Simply Superb! Have been admiring some of your previous examples in the short time I have been on UHH and am always impressed. My inventory is amateurish at best, but would like to ask what reasonably priced lens would you recommend to myself (and possibly others) who have early model Canon EOS T1i or T2i 15mp cameras who may wish to attempt similar/like-quality images without investing lots of $$. Thanks in advance and keep posting great shots.

Don, As you are probably finding out...many quality cameras out there. Suggest taking a look at used Canon SX200 IS which can often be found at Amazon for $50-less than $100. It is older, has great utility, exceptional telephoto capabilities and intuitive. Great camera with which to begin (gauge her interest without overwhelming her). It is also small and handy so she will not be initially burdened by equipment. Worth checking out.

Canon G7X Mark II is simply the best all-around I have found. Great pictures, ease of use, has wi-fi, tilt screen, and great for travel. Most versatile camera I have used.
