Need a camera to have with me when I don’t want to carry Canon 5D Mark III. Too heavy to always carry. I shoot raw. Tried Sony A6500. Don’t like menu. Probably another Canon but open to suggestions.

I have a Canon G9 X. Very small and light. Takes real good pictures and will save RAW as long as you are in creative mode, not any of the auto modes. One other downside is it doesn’t have a long focal length for long distance shots but the lens is pretty fast f2.0 at the widest angle. There are other G series cameras from Canon that will do much more but the more they do the bigger they seem to get as well as more expensive. The G9 X and Mk II version has a 1” sensor with 20 megapixels like the Sony RX 100 I beleive that is what it is at any rate it’s the same sensor and a very good one.

The Canon G9 X also has a touch screen so you have to get used to it as the physical size of the camera is very small while the screen is about the same size as your Canon 5D.
Here is a link you can look at them on the Canon site.

Nikon Coolpix(es) have a number of great smaller cameras. I have a Coolpix d7000, that has a great zoom. It's updated model is even better. But---I am a Nikon guy ! (With the exception of my 'Blad and Deardorff days !)

Panasonic Lumix ZS series like the ZS70 or the ZS200. The 70 is a pocket sized long zoom small sensor point and shoot, but it has good glass and takes good photos for the sensor size except in low light. The 100 is a 1" sensor bridge camera, a little bigger but still coat/cargo pocket sized and it takes excellent photos in any light. They both shoot raw.

"but open to suggestions"

I don't have or want a DSLR. I'm partial to smaller and lighter. My "big" camera is a mirrorless M4/3. Between my wife and I, we own and use a few small cameras. They are:

Sony RX100 series: truly a pocket wonder.
Panasonic ZS100: takes a little larger pocket, but zoom range is a marvel
Panasonic LX100: not for pockets but the lens is fast and sharp
Olympus TG-5: fits pockets, is indestructible and full of surprise features like a focus stacking macro mode.

All of them shoot RAW and have good video functionality, including 4K.

Sony RX100M4. You can probably get one on Ebay for $400-500.

Test out an Olympus PEN EPL 8 with the 14-42EZ lens. Quite compact and fits in your pocket.

I just got a Fuji X100f based on reviews and suggestions for a small travel camera. I too am tired of lugging the heavy kit all over the world and will be giving the Fuji a spin this weekend in Mexico. It is a fixed lens at 35mm equivalent with image quality that rivals most high-end DSLRs. Check out the many reviews from pro travel photographers. You will have to zoom with your feet but that ignites some creativity and interesting compositions. And it is retro gorgeous.
