I will be taking a trip to national parks & I want suggestions for an inexpensive point& shoot camera with a long optical zoom and a view finder.I don't want to carry my SLRbecause it is too big & bulky.

What price range do you consider to be inexpensive?
I have heard and seen really good things about the P900 by Nikon. It's a super zoom and runs about $500. I have seen some beautiful pics posted taken by that camera. I recommended to a friend who has now photography experience to take on her Alaskan cruise and she loved it.

I'm not sure you will find all you are looking for at that price. If you can do without the viewfinder Gene's suggestion would be a good choice.

Check out Panasonic Lumix zs60. I used to own zs50 which I took to European tour in 2015 and Paris in 2015 captured great pictures and videos. Specs for zs60 say it has:
30x (24-720mm) LEICA DC Lens optical zoom performance is ideally suited for travel and everyday photography
• 18 Megapixel sensor delivers high-resolution photos with fewer image artifacts
• 4K Ultra HD video recording plus exclusive LUMIX 4K PHOTO and 4K Post Focus photo capture features
• Eye-level Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and touch-enabled LCD for a wider viewing experience
• Lens-mounted control ring brings DSLR-like exposure control to a compact point-and-shoot camera body
Price tag: $235.00 @ Amazon
If you're not stuck on a pocketable compact, the Nikon B700 bridge camera might be a good choice. Zooms out to 1440mm and shoots in RAW. Currently going for $449.99.

No view finder.
Then he probably needs to either spend more or settle for less zoom. He should also do some of the research on his own and come up with a few possibilities and seek comments. just sayin'
Canon has refurbished SX60HS for $350. It's not a DSLR but it has many DSLR features. It has an electronic view finder, 65X zoom which is equivalent to 21-1365 mm. It's smaller than DSLR and it's very light, less than a pound and a half. It doesn't have 4K but it does do full HD video.
I've got one and I can honestly say that it's a really good camera for $350. I own a few DSLR'S and long lenses and there are times when the SX60HS is the camera I take with me, and it hasn't disappointed me yet.
Sony DSC-HX300/BC - a great P&S camera, 20.4 MP, 50x Optical (Carl Zeiss lens F2.8), viewfinder & LCD tiltable screen, auto-mode or full manual control, HD video, feel of a DSLR, currently on Amazon (or maybe other locations) from $220-$280, new or factory re-done, below your price range. It is one of my 2 back up cameras (other is the newer HX400, currently about $400 new) and would not be without it.
