Yeah, I wondered if this post would be worth making or not. I think what I'm going to do is post it again as a poll: "Should I have posted this post or left it unposted? Post your response in the space below."

An Exa is the first single lens reflex camera I ever owned. If I remember correctly I paid a hundred Marks for it in Reutlingen, Germany. I sold it and several years ago I contacted the person I sold it to and bought it back for my collection. I have an Exacta in perfect condition a friend found in a storage unit he bought. If film ever comes back down to a decent price I may begin using film again just for fun.

way back i bought an exacta for my dad...he used it till he passed away...i gave that one to one of my sons...he still has it...the ones shown i collected over the years...i'm thinking about getting rid of my collection as i'm getting to the end....i have about 8 cameras i want to keep as they mean something to me...i started photography when i was 15...i'm 87 now...had darkrooms did my own developing....mostly b and w did some ecktacrome slides....never made a nickle from the hobby and didn't really want to...just for my own gratification...time to let go i guess....been a ham since 1970..and still get on the air with that...

this thing is starting to sound like the attic....banning film????does film hurt someone that much that it should be banned????? i dunnno...film never bothered me, and i used quite a bit of it....spent a lot of times in my darkrooms and never became ill....when it became time for me to give up my darkroom, couldn't afford the supplies anymore, and took up digital, i donated my darkroom to a baltimore high school....a friend was a teacher and he wanted to give photo lessons to the kids that were interested.....i'm 87 now and had played with photography from about 13 on....never made a nickle outta it, but really enjoyed it...i have a bunch of cameras i have collected over the years that i'm gonna have to unload....none of my kids have any interest in photography...anyway, i don't wanna ban film....

As worries over the possibility of WW III and nuclear armagedon are increasing, I thought I'd lighten the mood with a bit an English friend sent me a dozen years ago. Enjoy!

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white f**g factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Libya and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is canceled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

One might think so but it means it’s better to act decisively and apologize for it later than to seek approval to act and risk delay, objections, etc.

You probably heard how Jay almost burned his face off working on a steam car in November. A couple of days ago, he was test riding a motorcycle. He cut through a parking lot (or something), and he was knocked to the ground by an unmarked wire strung across the path. He said he was embarrassed to go back to the same hospital. Throughout all this, he has maintained his sense of humor.

he's run into a stream of bad luck....i have not watched a lot of him, bur what i have watched he comes off as a pretty decent guy....unlike some of the other tv clowns.....

BTW, back when only Playtex had latex gloves, my girl's dad had a pretty good way of cleaning up after working on his car: he'd buy the cheapest shampoo he could find (cheaper than Lava or Go-Jo) and use that to clean up. That and scratching a bar of soap before working to keep the grease from under his nails.
