Its more cost afferent for the manufacture to make 1 camera than 2 or 3 just don't use it !!!

I do football baseball with no problem and I'm 75 years old and still use manual 90% of the time using a 70-200 VR 2 with no problem.

Just buy looking at the photo you moved the camera get away from auto and use manual then it won't change I very seldom use auto focus we do sports teams 20 t 30 teams at a time with about 10 to 15 people and we have no problem with out of focus picture be a photographer not a point and shooter .

Look like your camera may have been on center spot focus it not the camera its the focus setting

It not going to work in soft dirt or sand putting tension on the rope will just pull out stack just a dump idea if you have a good tripod you don't have to worry about it !
