I too have a Epson V600 Photo scanner that was generously given to me by a friend a few years ago. I have a few hundred kodachrome slides and some photos I would like to copy. But alas . . . I am old now (almost 90) with a faded memory and now lacking skills to do this. It is too bad that there is no simple to follow manual available to purchase that would help me out. The will is still there . . . but the skill and ability is not.

I seem to wake up about every two hours. I roll over, look at the clock, and groan. Then I try to go back to sleep. I've seen several articles that suggest the same thing: if you can't get back to sleep in twenty minutes, get out of bed and do something relaxing. If you spend too much "awake time" in bed, your body will associate that with not-sleeping. Instead, read a book, avoid electronic screens, relax in a comfortable chair, or do something that is not stressful. When you feel tired, go back to bed.

There is a video about how to get to sleep in fifteen minutes, but I'm not going to watch it because it's not going to work.

Jerry I have the same problem that you have. However I have concluded that the 1, 2 and 3 hour "naps" I have throughout the 24 hour period seems to be enough to give me the "rest of the day" energy and ability to not feel "sleepy". So I have concluded that for being "almost 90" I am doing well . . . and do not worry about the "broken sleep" thing>

May I suggest you consider doing volunteer work. There are all kinds of things that you could do that are very interesting. Get outside . . . look around at the many groups that are looking for volunteers. You will meet many people that could be your friend. Good luck.

I'm sure there are capable Bluetooth printers but I have my Brother B&W laser printer plugged directly into my wifi router so that any device logged into my wifi can print to it.

I also have 2 brother laser printers. One with wireless (bluetooth) and the other not. "With" a router that will "handle" routing of printing to a non-wireless as mine does . . . why does it matter?

After I posted a question about duplex printing, several people recommended a laser printer. Looking at reviews on "The Wire Cutter," I saw this opening statement.

"Printers are annoying. All of them."

Excellent! Printers seem to have minds of their own, but they are not very good minds.

The Wire Cutter recommendation for a budget laser is the Brother HL-L2350DW, $123 at Amazon. Amazon has none, but B&H has it for $149 with no sales tax. Do any of you have that printer? I'll read some reviews.

In case you haven't realize this yet, reviews on Amazon are a waste of time, especially the bad reviews. People complain because a certain printer came with a CD, or the box was damaged, or a non-wireless printer can't print wirelessly. I prefer watching YouTube reviews done by people who review electronics all the time.

EDIT: Very good reviews. I'm ordering it tomorrow from B&H. The toner cost difference is amazing, though - $70 for Brother, and $10 for generic. I'll play it safe and get the Brother.

I have 2 Brother laser printers. One is 4 years old and is print only (low end). The 2nd printer is a print and copy only (also low end). Both these printers are wireless. I have 24 years of owning various makes and price range of printers and these 2 printers are the most trouble free by far. For my needs I will probably never go back to ink printers. Incidentally I use a generic toner that costs me about $30 that I buy from my local printer repair/sales store. They get the ink from a large LA. and have never had any toner problems. I get my toner from a local Palm Springs printer repair/sale store that gets the toner from a large dealer in LA. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Dealing with large companies such as this story has become such a nightmare . . . and it seems that nothing can be done about it. Perhaps if all of us customers complained by letter they would sit up and "notice".

We have an awful electric company here - Central Hudson. People get bills for several thousand dollars, rather than $100. Those with AutoPay get into a real mess.

My last payment for electricity was in August. I no longer get paper bills or email notices, so I have to go to their website and pay online. I've been paying since August, but they never give me credit. At least they don't charge my CC or checking account. I'm always "Past Due," though. Right now, I owe for September, October, and November. I'm going to phone them this morning, but from what I've heard, that means being "on hold" indefinitely. To make things worse, it's Monday.

The County and State have been investigating the company and denying it rate increases, but they still can't operate correctly.

Well, yes and no. Looking at the statistics from BackBlaze, they are reliable, but SSDs seem to have the overall edge. SSDs do wear out after a certain number of writes, though. An HDD will keep working unless something breaks. As I said above, I am using some that are ten years old.
