Posting this for a friend of mine:
I have been looking for a guality bluetooth capable photo printer. I'm partial to Canon but open to any brand. I have both a SLR and phone that I would like print directly from.
Has anyone got a recommendation or experience with such an animal.?
I'm sure there are capable Bluetooth printers but I have my Brother B&W laser printer plugged directly into my wifi router so that any device logged into my wifi can print to it.
What size prints are you looking for? Most of what I’ve seen in Bluetooth photo printers are mini portable printers. Also what kind of camera are you printing from? My experience with wireless transfer from cameras has been that Bluetooth only supports lower resolution versions of your photos. WiFi is needed for full resolution.
"capable photo printer"
The photo printer business is a niche market. Epson and Canon both have a couple with enough ink colors to qualify. After that, there are not many to look at. The models I looked up have WiFi wireless capability and include phone apps.

I also have 2 brother laser printers. One with wireless (bluetooth) and the other not. "With" a router that will "handle" routing of printing to a non-wireless as mine does . . . why does it matter?

It's a matter of bandwidth. If you need a wider bandwidth then Bluetooth is not the way to go. Copying PDFs is not a problem with Bluetooth, but if you are printing photos you need something better than Bluetooth.
