I've been using 3 pairs of batteries in my Canon 40D and 50D, (same batteries for each) BG-E1 grips. Two pairs are Canon and one pair Opteka. I always keep each pair together both on chargers or in camera. So far no troubles with any of them.

Looks like many of us were caught off guard. I too was thinking typo.

Great composition and shot.

My Nephew has a beautiful Springer Spaniel. She is the most affectionate dog I've ever seen. And just full of energy, always eager to please. Best dogs ever IMHO.

The misty morning is a great shot. Don't get too many opportunities for these kind of shots.

I use SanDisk and Kingston cards and have recovery software from both. Each seems to work on any memory card. The only thing I've noticed is that the Kingston "Media Recover" software seems to be very slow compared to the SanDisk "Rescue Pro" software.

Canon has a site called "Canon Image Gateway". Unfortunately if you shoot anything other than Canon you can't access it. You need to have a registered Canon camera to sign up. It's all free too!

I believe you are speaking of a different 35-105 lens than the OP has. His EF 35-105 1:3.5-4.5 Zoom may be the original "Push Pull" zoom with metal mount from 1987. A newer EF 35-105 1:4.5-5.6 was made in 1991 that has a plastic mount.

I have the 35-105 and have made some very good photographs using it on film and Dslr bodies. It is not stabilized and with the 1.6 "crop" factor, I am very careful to keep the shutter speeds higher than 1/125th sec. It has a plastic mount and is pushing 30 years old and works fine. However, it is worth more as a back up, "What the hell if it IS raining just put a cover on it and shoot" lens that it would yield in Dollars.

I'm saving mine for when I go to full frame. It will get me started until GAS takes over.

S - lens, a newer and slightly different mount from the EF lenses.
EF lenses fit on all EOS camera bodies from the EOS 650 to todays newest DSLRs.
EF-S lenses fit only on "Crop" sensor cameras.
If you research DSLRs you will find reference to "Full Frame" vs "Crop" sensors.

I use a 100mm macro for shooting this type of thing. For larger objects it allows space to move between camera and subject for repositioning of items being photographed. It also allows for extreme close shots to provide detail on small items.

I was on a dinner cruise off Waikiki near Diamond Head crater. The light was fading and I wanted to get a shot of the shoreline. My camera indicated shake warning due to the light conditions. I tried setting my camera on the railing while taking the shot. While the ships movement seem almost imperceptible to me, the shot was no good. In the few seconds the shutter was open the movement was well recorded on film. Lots of blur and light streaks, oh well, live and learn.

By the information I have found, Canon never even made a hood specifically for this lens.
There may be hoods that fit on it, but be sure what ever you put on does not cause vignetting.
Also as Bull Drink Water said, the front element is very deep in the barrel. A hood likely would make no difference.
I have one of these with Life Size converter and don't use a hood. This mainly due to the very short working distance from lens to subject.

Is lens hood recommended for a Canon 50mm f/2.5 macro lens under certain or all conditions?

I think there is a little funny in the advertisement. "in Calgary and Alberta."
Calgary IS in Alberta, why does the post insinuate that it is not?

This is very interesting to see the departure point of the Mayflower. I was fortunate to be able to visit Plymouth Mass. and the Plymouth rock where they landed.
I had my first taste of Swordfish in a restaurant overlooking Plymouth Rock.
