I am surprised that you liberals, sorry socialists, out there are having such a hard time trying to verify the "facts" in the original post. This list is mentioned on SNOPES as a start. It is mentioned on a Snopes forum similar to this one but SNOPES does not confirm or deny the facts. There are several hundred other blogs and "news" sites that mention it. All of them either just post the list for their viewers or post it and refute it. ALL of them have the usual collection of Democrats, liberals, and Socialists hurling profanity and childish insults at the posters. That is the telling part.

Let's just use common sense. The statistics mentioned cannot possibly be accurate. Why? Simply because every country in the World, including the ones listed, compile their health statistics differently. There isn't even a standard method of defining cancer for example, much less how many people survive. I would suggest that this particular statistic is only important to the folks that have cancer. Investors Business Daily is an old newspaper that has focus on the business of investing. Their only interest in health statistics would be on which HMO to buy stocks from.

The best and most interesting source to refute the first part of the list, that I could find would be: http://tinyfrog.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/us-nationalized-healthcare/ What I gather from reading that site is that we spend a great deal more money on health care that everyone else without the coninsiding benefit.

As far as the second part of the list having to do with business experience: It would take an enormous amout of time to search out the facts on the previous administrations and I'm not certain anyone would have been compiling those facts in the first place. However, the gentleman at http://radicalpuppy.blogdrive.com/archive/112.html does an admirable job of checking on the current cabinet.

The only FACT that we all know and have come to love is that the only person at the management level in Washington D.C. without any business experience what-so-ever is Obama. He has never held a job that was designed to produce a real product or profit. I would be happy to entertain any proof to the contrary that you liberal/socialists can produce.

I will address your comment about Investors Business Daily .... they have an editorial colunm .... their business reporting and analysis the the best .... they routinely confuse objective financial reporting with their conservative adgenda anti Democrat, any Democrat position ...asI commented in a prior post .... don't read their editorials .... they are not financial in nature and extremely biased ..

There are actually two messages here. The first is very interesting,
but the second is absolutely astounding- and explains a lot.

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting

And now for the last statistic:

National Health Insurance?

U.S. NO

England YES

Canada YES

Check the second set of statistics!!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the
private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet.
You know what the private business sector is - a real-life business,
not a government job. Here are the percentages.

T. Roosevelt..................38%

Taft..............................40%

Wilson ...........................52%

Harding.........................49%

Coolidge........................48%

Hoover ...........................42%

F. Roosevelt...................50%

Truman..........................50%

Eisenhower.....................57%

Kennedy.........................30%

Johnson..........................47%

Nixon..............................53%

Ford................................42%

Carter..............................32%

Reagan............................56%

G.H.W. Bush.....................51%

Clinton ..............................39%

G.W. Bush........................55%

Obama...............................8%

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration: only 8%
of them have ever worked in private business!

That's right! Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19
presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations
how to run their business?

How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the
most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about
business when he's never worked for one? Or about jobs when he has
never really had one? And when it's the same for 92% of his senior
staff and closest advisers? They've spent most of their time in
academia, government and/or non-profit jobs or as "community
organizers." They should have been in an employment line.

Pass this on because we'll NEVER see these facts in the main stream media.

New to all of this so looking for opinions. I've done some comparisons online between the regular lens (18-55) that comes with the Nikon 5100 that I'm purchasing next month & the Tamron 18-270. May buy the body only & purchase the Tamron. Reasoning is sheer convenience of not having to change the lens. It would be less expensive to also buy a Tamron 55-200 but I'm thinking if I'm in my car & want to take a shot that requires a zooming in I may miss the moment. I don't want to sacrifice any quality though & plan on taking action shots as well. So, does anyone use the 18-270 as an all around or know if it will work well as an all around lens or would I be better served to have at least 2 lenses? Thanks

My two favorite lens are the Tamron 18-270 and the Nikon 10-24. They are the two I carry most of the time. So much of your decision is on your style of photography. I use the Tamron most of the because of the zoom range and the quality is good. Lens creep can be a problem, I just use the lens lock when not taking pictures. I love the Nikon 10-24 for Landscape and for taking creative shots with unique perspectives. I do not need to change lens often because of the overlap and I usually know ahead of time what my objective is. I am speaking as an avid amateur photograph that does not have to meet any professional standards. I only have to please myself.

I was sitting in the coffee shop this morning listening while you complained about the weather we are having and how it is always nasty when you come down because we have tropical storms, hurricanes, mosquitos and "no-seeums". For some reason you think that prevents you from photo shoots. Really? I was going home after getting some decent shots of deer, wildhogs and soggy woods. Why did you buy a house here? You griped about your unfriendly neighbors but I clearly remember the old man who lives next door bringing you some of his fresh caught fish soon after you moved in. He & I were fishing off his back porch and he thought he would be neighborly. You cut him off and shut the door in his face. He does, after all, live in that run-down trailer at the end of the road that you and your neighbors would like to get rid of. He has lived there more than 50 years and is close to dying so you will get your wish. He was there before there was even a road . The first snow Birds to move in have been there 10yrs and seem to avoid the woods. You ought to talk to him. He has a lot of great stories about the wildlife that used to be around him & his family and could show you some great places for photo ops. He is a well known author and philanthropist. He'd be great to add to your name-dropping list. You won't know this until his obit is written. Your wife said you needed to go to the Miami Zoo to shoot some wildlife. Did you know there is a lot of marshes, preserves and state parks near you where wildlife and flora abounds? You implied FL Natives are all rednecks and said how much you preferred socializing with "your kind". Boy! Are you missing out! We have great BBQ's and fish fries down here in the "ghetto section" as you so nicely called it. I may be a low class redneck but if someone says "I wish you would get me a picture of a gator" I would NOT go to a zoo! If you are not interested in the people & life in FL and continually whine about "home" and how much better your pictures turn out there, you need to go back. You are only here 5-6 months a year. Why? Status? You certainly aren't happy moving back & forth and are usually on road trips in your motor home. I am a proud Native and have actually made friends of some Snow Birds but some of you need to be extradited back up north. I hope ya'll are first.

I shot there last year, and yes, it's fairly bright inside. However, the gardens and grounds are also beautiful and the building itself is well worth many shots. You are allowed to take pictures, but no flash and no tripods. There are guards everywhere, and some rooms have two or three. If you do anything you're not allowed, they will let you know right away. If in doubt, inquire of the guards. I took pictures in many of the rooms, but by far my best ones were of the building and the grounds. I found myself bracing either the camera or my body against door frames, etc. in order to keep the speed up to shooting without camera shake. The building has lots of glass, so interior shots are possible. It's a great place to take pictures, and one could spend lots more time there than I did, doing just that.

Glad to hear. I was wondering if you could check out Kindle books from the library. What kind of selection is there?

That depends on your library system and resources. Sorry I can not give you a better answer.

Also I just got the information on how to do it (simple), but have two books to finish first before I shop my library.

When you use the library you are borrowing the book for two weeks. At my library if I need another two weeks I can renew.

I have a Kindle DX that I got several years ago. I bought the Kindle Touch because of its touch screen, small size and long battery life. I have Kindle for PC on my desktop and laptop. I keep the DX at my bedside. The Touch goes into my man purse and I use the Desk/Lap top at other times. I can open any one of them and they sync to the latest page read. I bought the Fire as a gift for my niece, but did not see the need for me.
I can get all the other features of the Fire on my computers and smartphone. I can also now borrow books for my Kindle system from my local library. Yes I love Amazon Kindle.

Two weeks ago I sold my D80 and bought a D7000 body. Amazing. To many improvements and features to list. Strongly suggest David Busch's D7000 guide. Read before using.

I am thinking of purchasing a new Tamron 18-270mm lens for my Canon 40D. They have 2 different models. The B003 and the B008. Is there a significant performance or benefit between the 2? I did notice that there was a weight difference in the 2 lenses.

I use the Tamron 18-270 on my Nikon and am very pleased with it. I simple lock the lens when not shooting to prevent lens creep. I bought a rubber band that was supposed to solve the creep problem, but did not like it.

I have several lens, but use this and the Nikon 10/24 zoom the most.

Just shooting for fun and mental health. My pictures are fantastic because the only one I have to please is me.
