In Europe the animal would be called a "Reindeer". The same species in Alaska and Canada would be called "Caribou"

The caribous I saw in Alaska were bigger than the reindeer we have in Finland so I believe they are different species. But then again, people are bigger (being PC and not calling them fat) in US.

I'm going to wait out the stay at home and then drive the 1 1/2 hr to the Canon Burbank Service center, not using my 70-200 much anyway. Have used their facility 2 years ago and they were fast and super nice. And a good excuse to stop by an European bakery nearby.....

Funny reading some of the comments saying to turn off AF, well, OP didn't even use AF as he/she mentions he/she used distance markers on lens, indicating MF ;-)

Instead of calling, do the online chat option, that's what I did, English is my third language and then talking to someone in India makes it impossible to understand, they do type perfect though so that works.

Yes. But in these pandemic times I only allowed myself to buy an Canon T70 with an 50/1.8, same camera I bought 33 years ago, still have an Tokina 35-200 to go with it.

Sad to hear of the demise of the camera stores in SB; it certainly makes sense, just hadn’t crossed my mind. And let’s not forget about Dels Nikon on Chapala, a walking Nikon encyclopedia and one man shop devoted to all things Nikon who always gave me more than a fair shake!
I thought Ernie Jr sold out but didn’t think it was related to Ernie Sr demise...

Del's was such a candy store, bought my Nikon FE2, some lenses and a Pentax 67 from him when he was on State St. Yes, so sad all those stores gone, Samy's should've stayed on Chapala. And there's some very famous photoraphers living here in SB, Jesse Alexander, Marc Muench

I'd look into Thom Hogans books if I'd still be a Nikon user. He's excellent writer and a good reviewer and is very sensible.

I reluctantly have the LR Classic, the price isn't the issue but being hostage to all kind of connection issues. just yesterday all of a sudden they couldn't confirm sub issue, logged into their help desk, took 3 reps and 1 1/2 hrs to solve my problem. Just wish they had a standalone you could buy, I'm not buying cameras every year or need other updates every week.

On a FF Canon I used a 16-35 when I captured OF erupting at night with Milky way in the background AND a shooting star happened to be captured in the photo. That moment 3 years ago I will never forget. But bring, buy, borrow or rent a long lens as well for wild life, often times they're not right by the road, I bought an 100-400 just for my Yellowstone trip (that also got great use in Denali NP). When my daughter saw the lens and asked me how much I paid for it, her response after she heard how much it was, "I guess I should keep working at national parks with lots of wildlife!". Yes, a very understanding daughter.

My very first digital camera (a 3.2 MP Canon) I actually bought on fleabay, never received it. Reported the seller, he got cought, I chatted with the detective, seller went to jail (he had scammed some other buyer as well), I got compensated and seller had to pay restitution as well.

I was at Natural Bridges national Monument 3 years ago and walked out to one of the lookouts, figuring out my composition. There was one other person there and I quickly realized he was carrying a serious camera, a MF digital, think it was a Pentax with a digital back. Anyway, we struck up a conversation, turned out he was the former official NPS photographer....he had a wealth of information to share, among them tips for my upcoming trip to Alaska where I've never been before. That was my biggest pleasant surprise when arriving at a destination!

A great review of some of the highlights of Turkey.
At -- EPHESUS...I purchased my double eagle ring. Also St. Paul preached there.
We must remember that Turkey has over a 2000 year history.

My idea of the trip i want to return to is the City of Istanbul. Everywhere you look there are photo op. The buildings, the people and even the cats. I took hundred of images of cats that interact with the people and places.
Anyhow your review may find me the one person I'm looking for.
Thanks.
A great review of some of the highlights of Turkey... (show quote)

Hahaha, you MUST be American....2000 year...laughable. Göbekli Tepe is something like 12000 years old!
Anyway, celebrated my daughters 21st birthday in Istanbul, wonderful city. We also went to Cappadocia and Pamukkale which reminded my daughter of mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone whre she used to work. Super friendly people (in the country side) and I swore to go back!
