I went ahead and bought them. And started reading Secrets To Exposure And Metering For Nikon. I’ve only read to chapter two and most I already knew about. But so far so good. I’m sure theirs still a lot to learn from this book.

It didn’t work but thanks. From the reviews it looks like it should be helpful. And it does come with a money back guarantee. I’ll let you know what I think about the e-books when I read them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of post about Steve Perry and I’ve watched some of his videos on YouTube. And went to his website and looked at his e-books and thought of getting one. Question when I go to purchase it has a place for a coupon but I don’t have a coupon if I buy both his books on the Nikon camera will I get a coupon code? Can I get a discount if I buy Secrets To Exposure And Metering For Nikon and Secrets To The Nikon Autofocus System: DSLR Edition together? Thank in Advance.

If your looking for something cheap that works good. I would trying the AF NIKKOR 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G.
I bought a old film camera N65 and it was the lens that was on the camera turns out it is a great lens. Lite Weight perfect for outdoor and indoors with a flash.

I haven’t tried the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED or check the price of it, but it would give you more focal range. But the AF NIKKOR 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G you can find cheap.

I’m thinking of getting this and would like to know how hard it is to use and your thoughts on results! Good luck!

After I got to set up everything went well. I didn’t have a laptop so I had to move my iMac to use it. But it looked like the three lens I tested was back focusing. A 50mm 60mm and a 85mm. I also printed out the target from the website but I purchased both large and small targets but they are being shipped. When the targets come in I’m going to run the test again and calibrate the rest of my lens.
The main reason I bought the program is because I wanted it to be sharp wide open. Will try and post pictures tomorrow.
My camera is a Nikon D850 and D7100.

Thanks for the information. But I was using the software wrong. I was trying to run the test before I had the target and distant set up correctly. If all else fails read the directions.😂

Ok I’m trying out this software FoCal and every time I go to use it it gives me a error. To put the camera in single point focus. Can someone tell me if this is the settings I should be in? I just realized my Aperture is not wide open. The lens I’m trying to calibrate is AF MICRO NIKKOR 60mm 1:2.8

Just to clarify for the OP, I think you might have meant the upgrade to the professional version when you said renew the subscription? (It’s a one-time purchase, not a subscription).

Btw, I used the standard version for years and loved it, but upgraded to the pro version mainly because it allows calibrating lenses longer than 400mm (I use a 100-400L plus a 1.4x TC occasionally). But the pro version also adds some additional tests such as AF consistency and aperture vs acuity, which I use on every lens. Not only does it show you the sharpest apertures (which are NOT always 1-2 stops down from wide open), it shows you instantly if the lens is up to par. It plots acuity vs aperture and also shows the avaerage of all the lenses of that type in their data base (the blue area). Here’s one of the graphs - note the obvious effect of diffraction at smaller apertures.
Just to clarify for the OP, I think you might have... (show quote)

I have a question, this software will work on both my cameras D7100 and D850. My questions is will it work with older lens like the AF MICRO NIKKOR 60mm 1:2.8. Most of my Lens are AF but I have a few that are manual like Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AI-s. Thanks in advance.

I have a Nikon D850 and I use both a XQD and SD card. When I went to download my pictures on my iMac the only card it would read is the SD card which had my jpg files and the XQD card had my raw files. No mater what I tried I could not get my raw files off my camera. I use the cable to plug in my camera to my iMac and even used a card reader but neither worked. I could see them on my camera but could not download them. I finally found a app on the App Store called Cascable which uses the WiFi from your camera to download pictures to your iMac. This app will work with almost any camera that has WiFi. It took over a hour to get 65 raw file off my camera but it worked.

After I got my files off my camera I reformatted the card with the camera and now when I hook it up to my iMac it see both cards. Do you think I should get a new card or does this happen every once in a while?

I have a WD Mycloud and PCloud you can share files with them. WD Mycloud would be free if you have one PCloud is a one time purchase for life.

I have used my two older AF Nikon 60 and 105 2.8 D lenses for many years and they are still going strong. They can be bought off ebay mint and are very, very, very sharp. Yes, they will work great on the D850.
HOWEVER, neither will auto focus on the new Z camera's. But, I don't care because they work just fine on my D500 and D5. Screw mirrorless.

I agree, I have the Nikon AF 60 mm D 2.8 and I love the lens. Uses it on both the D7100 and D850. Plus it’s great for portraits.

Question I have a D850 and just started taking photos of birds around the house. I use the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm 1:2.8G ED would it be better to use the D850 in DX mode or FX? Or would my older D7100 be better for birds with that lens?
