Ok I’m trying out this software FoCal and every time I go to use it it gives me a error. To put the camera in single point focus. Can someone tell me if this is the settings I should be in? I just realized my Aperture is not wide open. The lens I’m trying to calibrate is AF MICRO NIKKOR 60mm 1:2.8

AF-S (or C) is a different setting than single point focus. On my Nikon bodies, push in the button on the AF-M switch below the lens release button and use the Main Command Dial (rear wheel) to select AF-S or AF-C and the Sub-Command Dial (front wheel) to select the number of focus points. From the screen shot in your post it looks like you have selected single point focus, but are in AF-C (or auto focus continuous mode). You want to select AF-S.

Thanks for the information. But I was using the software wrong. I was trying to run the test before I had the target and distant set up correctly. If all else fails read the directions.😂

Glad you got it worked out. Let us know if your lens needed tuning.

I’m thinking of getting this and would like to know how hard it is to use and your thoughts on results! Good luck!

Pay attention to the details of the instructions concerning aperture (wide open) and AF and metering settings. Make sure your camera is square to the target (same height and not at an angle), and that the target is at the correct distance (per the instructions) and well lighted, the. Use the target alignment screen to check that you are centered on the target before proceeding with the test and make sure your USB cable is no more than 5M unless it’s an active cable. Once you’re set up correctly, the test should only take minutes.

After I got to set up everything went well. I didn’t have a laptop so I had to move my iMac to use it. But it looked like the three lens I tested was back focusing. A 50mm 60mm and a 85mm. I also printed out the target from the website but I purchased both large and small targets but they are being shipped. When the targets come in I’m going to run the test again and calibrate the rest of my lens.
The main reason I bought the program is because I wanted it to be sharp wide open. Will try and post pictures tomorrow.
My camera is a Nikon D850 and D7100.

I purchased the FoCal pkg for my Nikon D500 & Nikon 850...Initial issue on first time use..(user error)..FoCal tech support responded within 12 hrs.....The overall success on long glass (400-800 mm) is very noticeable..I found with using it on a zoom lens, (70-200), run 1 test at 70 & 1 test at 200..then average.
