Suggestions for a high quality macro lens to fit Nikon D850?
Tamron 90mm macro. I got one (but use Canon) and it's perfect. Never heard of a complaint about this lens.
Nikon 105mm or Tokina 100mm.
I have the Tokina 100mm and it’s great.

I am trying to think whether I have ever encountered a poor macro lens! I have 3, and all 3 are very good.

Agree with will47. Mine is mounted now on my Sony A7RIII. I shoot a lot of scale models using a ring light. It's just the right focal length for the distance I work at and the quality is top notch. I've had a couple people ask if I'm shooting a Nikon.
I have the 105mm Nikon, great lens and I like it a lot. But the Tamron and Tokina are both very good and a lot less money.
A while back I rented and compared different Macro (Micro in Nikon speak) lenses. After that I knew which lens delivered the best results.
I suggest you do the same thing. Rent different lenses and try them. Buy the one you like best.

I have used my two older AF Nikon 60 and 105 2.8 D lenses for many years and they are still going strong. They can be bought off ebay mint and are very, very, very sharp. Yes, they will work great on the D850.
HOWEVER, neither will auto focus on the new Z camera's. But, I don't care because they work just fine on my D500 and D5. Screw mirrorless.

nicksr1125, I have a Nikon D-750 and one of the best lenses I ever owned and I have been using it for several years, is the AF-S Micro Nikkor1:2.8G ED - VR. This lens is "sharp as a tack" very robust. I think that is one the best lens around, if not the best.
I have a Tokina 100. It’s very good quality at a reasonable price so I call that a good value. It’s noisy on the focus and some say that may scare bugs. But most knowledgeable bug photographers know that the best time to shoot bugs is in the cold of the morning when they can’t move much.

I don't think you can buy a bad one today, they're all good.

Any macro lens made by Nikon.
