Cameras with mirrors are larger and heavier. Just a fact of the design. You could rent a Nikon mirrorless body and / or an Olympus and make an informed decision vs just reading opinions of people who know virtually nothing about you and your photography style.

I may be missing something but the difference between a Canon R5 and a Canon 5DmIV (body only) is a grand total of 2.2 ounces. Doesn't seem like a huge difference maker. Especially if you want to keep your old glass and have to add the weight of the converter. There may be reasons to switch to mirrorless, but I'm not going to blow the budget to save 2.2 ounces.

A couple of months ago I posted that I had seen an ad for a new Hyundai vehicle that someone identified as the Santa Cruz. I said I thought it was an ugly design and brought back memories of the Aztek which was in a lot of people's opinion the ugliest vehicle ever made. I saw one a couple of days ago in the parking lot where I work and it was far better than I had imagined. It was quite a nice-looking vehicle although highly impractical in my opinion. The bed of the vehicle (I don't know whether to call it a car, SUV, or pickup) is so small it doesn't look like you could haul much in it. The lines and looks though are nice. The unfortunate thing about the Aztek was that performance-wise it got good reviews so maybe the Santa Cruz will do well all the way around.

As far as load capacity - a lot of people who drive huge pickups never haul anything in them anyway.

Liquid IV is the brand Costco sells and it is very popular and comes in several flavors. And yes everyone - you have to add water. It just helps the body retain the hydration.

My stash of depleted darkroom chemicals has become a problem of late especially the fixer. I don't have a safe place to dispose of them in my area on New Hampshire. Does anyone know of a disposal company that will do this for a small fee?

Just google hazardous waste disposal in your area. I live in Dayton, Ohio and we have a site that will dispose of it free of charge. They just require that you label the container so they know what it is. Actually the developer and stopper can be mixed together and then flushed down the toilet. When you mix them they will neutralize each other and there will be no harmful waste. The water from the toilet will further dilute them. The fixer is a bigger problem because of the silver it contains.

Plus - you would also have to tape over the entire white lens!

Three people, one with a Leica, one with a Canon and the third with no markings. Wouldn’t the one with no markings be the lowest priority to go for?

I would go for the one with the tape on it. After all, what are the trying to hide?

If Ms Delia Owens is innocent, she shouldn’t hesitate to appear before the Zambian Govt. I do believe that if there is a doubt about her innocence, it will affect sales of the book and the movie. From my vantage point, it was a great movie worth recommending.

I don't know anything about the Zambian government or their legal system. For that reason I would absolutely hesitate before I put my life in their hands.

Another thought along the same lines - I have no children but I have several great-nieces that are interested in family history and love any family photo they can get their hands on. And the older the better.

If you pass them to your kids, they can throw them out or not. If you throw them out, they have no choice.

I see all these answers about practice, talent, work and experience. But the original question was what piece of equipment would you have the alien give you, not what would make you a better photographer.

This is strictly for fun (yes I know it’s a bit silly, but…) so let’s leave the potential snarks at the door!

An alien comes to Earth and creates an uncontrollable GAS attack on every photographer on earth. You have to pick one photography tool. It can be a camera, lens, lighting equipment…whatever. You get one item. Affordability aside, what do you choose?

The most expensive item available. So I can sell it and buy all the other stuff I want.

But what do you use to swat that pesky fly? Of course, you could buy a fly-swatter. But have you ever tried to read a fly-swatter?

I'm sure it was necessary for you to post that. I just found the missing anus.

Correction noted and I apologize! The version I pulled up was different - don't know now what source it was from. Would have added that one as a third choice.
