If you have you camera converted to IR can you still use it as a normal camera and regular photos??

Yes and No, but actually NO, because you do not want to shell or for an external hot filter. If you run the camera without a dark IR filter you get color but it is odd because of the strong IR spectra effect (red).
If you get a G-2, 3 etc, the conversion is not difficult. Just be sure to index all screws on a card board with hole to contain the screws mapped and labeled. Some are longer than others. Concentrated Hydrochloric and Concentrated Nitric at a local college will remove the metal cover to the "hot mirror" just drops or a thin layer in a petri dish... the prof will help you because it is a once in a life time thing in his boring life.
The photo below is with my G-2... Note that the flowers look out of focus, that is not focus, it is odd reflection of IR by the tips of the pedals. The IR was further mod by Topaz B/W and More plug-in suite.

Thanks for the info.. I have over the years used IF 35mm film . This why I was wondering if would only be good for IR after the conversion. Thanks .

The Canon Ex line of Speedlites work with the Canon digital DSLRs. The 550EX and the 580EX can act as master flashes and the 430EX and 420EX can work as slaves. On the Canon flash models, the guide number of the flash is also the first 2 digits of the model number, i.e., the 580EX has aguide number of 58.

BE more picific about the guide number ! It 58 m(mteres)That could confuse some non metric thinking people...

I don't know if this is the male or female. I have seen one with a solid black head.
I wished this one had turned his head slightly towards me. I think I could have caught a catch light in the eye.

I have been doing the same thing for years! Use the sleeves from old camo hunting cloths for my lens. Pull over lens until you have a nice fit, then cut off excess at each end. Also protects surface of lens, I always leave my on. Tri-pod, I used pipe insulation (Foam) on legs. Pads leggs for carrying & in cold weather keeps fingers from getting cold when handling tripod. Also use old camo hunting cloths to wrap legs over the foam secureing with electrical tape.

get some camo tape 2 inches wide and tape you foam on the legs.

I am not an experienced photographer but I feel ready to work with RAW images in post-processing. (I take photos in both RAW and Jpeg.)

I have tried to download RAW images into my Adobe Photoshop 7.0 program to no avail. (I also have photoshop10, but I hate the grid that shows up on the images in post processing and don't know how to get rid of it, so I just keep using 7.0 with Jpegs, often save in TIFF.

Is it even possible to work with RAW images using Adobe 7.0?

IF not, perhaps it is time for me to buy either Lightroom or CS and study that? Which is better?

I think it is snowing in Montana. Shoot a whiteout and post a low Megabyte file. Shoot out the window!

I think there is some confusion here between Megapixels and MegaBytes.
A cameras sensor is measured in pixels and that number determines the physical 2 dimensions of an image (width x height).
Megabytes is the determination of file size (read volume). The number of megabytes of a file is determined by the amount of information contained within that file. Take a picture of a white wall, and another picture of a "busy" scene, a tree will do. The tree image will be a larger file size in megabytes than the white wall since there is more physical information contained in that image, hence more storage space is required to hold it. The RAW format is literally the amount of that information as no file compression has taken place (provided you choose "uncompressed" in your file storage selection).
The differentiation in Jpeg files will be even greater as JPG will discard duplicate information and simply retain a reference as to what information can be duplicated in that portion of the image file.

Don't know what your current camnera is, but the 5D is a first class full frame camera. The new features in the Mark III are great, but they did in no way make the Mark II old or obsolete. Many many professionals I know use the Mark II and have no intentions of changing until it wears out or is dropped and breaks beyond repair. Some professionals like to wait six months until the user community can work out any remaining compatabilty bugs with third party hardware.

$750 sounds a tad too cheap however (But-it-Now price?) and it may be not in great condition. I suggest getting one in a local camera shop where there is some limited warranty as well as your ability to hold it and try it out first.
