I've had no problems with 42nd St photo.
Just ask about warranty and origin. They will tell you.
Tip: buy the camera and register the purchase online at Canonusa.com.
If it is not covered, then Canon will tell you. If so, return it for refund.

[quote=Gene51]Mac is fine, but more expensive and limited options for configuration and peripherals.
PC is cheaper, just as powerful, and has many options for fine tuning your configuration - graphics, card, cpu, memory, internal hard drives, I/O etc etc etc.

Gene51 is exactly right. My experience with Mac is that when you want to upgrade hardware, you probably will replace the whole machine. With a PC, it is easy to upgrade individual components.
Other thoughts:
(1) A second monitor is a great advantage for:
- Put your Photoshop tool panels on the 2nd display.
- Put Lightroom preview on 2nd monitor
- Use 2nd monitor to browse files or internet for backgrounds or clips that you want to layer into your edits.
- Actually, I use 3 monitors
(2) An external drive is good for keeping all your photo and edits. A 2nd drive is good for backups (keep it on a shelf between backups).
(3) You might consider getting equipped to calibrate your monitor(s). I use ColorMunki. It is reasonably priced, very effective, and tech support is awesome.

Good luck! And happy edits.

1. Good
2. Really good.
3. Great, but I would crop down to remove the upper left corner.
4. Wonderful. Fiona should experiment more with portraits. With her eye, she can do good things with creative lighting.
Thanks for sharing.

I am practicing for photographing the solar eclipse on Aug 21.
Before attaching the solar filter, I got a shot of the clouds just before the sun came out.

Photoshop Elements 15 is an easy way to get started. $70 on Amazon.
When you learn this and want to step up to powerful editing, you will go to Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC combination.

I highly recommend the Adobe Photoshop CC plan
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html?sdid=KKSPY&kw=cssem&mv=search&s_kwcid=AL!3085!10!15343061468!20541710810&ef_id=V@8w-AAABERd7eAE:20170703184940:s

For $10/month, you get Photoshop and Lightroom.
There are 1000's of videos for help - ranging from beginner level to omnipotent guru level.
The learning curve is steep at first, but go through the intro tutorials and learn the basics.
You'll be ok.

Lightroom is wonderful for adjusting light, color, lens anomalies (using data about the actual lens model), clarity, etc.
And you can transfer the adjusted photo to Photoshop to do anything you can imagine.

I have used all these for 8+ years.
I'll be glad to answer more questions.

After adding a battery grip and a heavier lens, I had to abandon the neck strap.
Now I have the Fomito Quick Rapid Shoulder Sling Belt Neck Strap from Amazon - less than 15$.
Lightweight and allow you to draw up your SLR Camera quickly.
- Designed for Comfort and Durability.
- The length of the strap can be adjusted in front conveniently.
- Attaches to tripod 1/4" standard screw.
- Slides Up Strap for Split Second Fast Shooting.
And I agree that a neck strap is the tourist-look.

It isn't just a problem of getting them to look the same. They must be calibrated to a color standard. Otherwise you will have 2 monitors that display colors that are different from what a printer will produce - sometimes terribly different. Spyder and ColorMunki are both sold on Amazon. I have used ColorMunki for several years with excellent results.

I thank you for your answer. I may be homing in on a purchase.
Do you have any in the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD ??
I don't understand why this is so much cheaper than the 17-70. It has a constant f2.8 max aperture.

Just a note:
Many years ago, I had one bad experience with Sigma.
I bought a Sigma zoom lens for my 35mm Canon. It was excellent.
A few years later, when I upgraded to a new Canon camera, the camera popped up an error when I mounted the Sigma lens.
Sigma said the lens was electronically incompatible with the new camera, and treated me like a stray dog.
So I have been leery of Canon lens competitors since. But I know that Sigma and Tamron get good reviews.

Anyway, what about the Sigma 17-50??
