I have just bought my second monitore so that I would have more space in photoshop by moving all the tabs onto it and leave only the photo I am working with. Now I noticed that it is near impossible or impossible to calibrate them to have the same/matching colours of the same photo I am editing, I tried to fidel with the correction buttons and now I wish to go back to factory default to start again, anybody know how to do that please, Both monitors are ViewSonic. thanks

The manual should be on the Internet as a downloadable PDF file.

Get a hardware plus software calibration and ICC profiling kit from DataColor or X-RITE.

I agree with Bill, I have two identical monitors and use the Spyder Pro. The colors are exact. I re-calibrate monthly.

I have two similar, but not identical 22inch Viewsonic monitors. Since they have slightly different specifications an exact match isn't possible, but I have found a very close match without calibration tools, using extended screens on Windows and get good color results on prints. It was fiddly to set up, but now works very well.

Thank you all for your help, but to tell you the truth, I am not so worried if the two monitors are not colour matched with each other, but which is the correct one that I can use for editing in photoshop? :-)

There is no way anyone on here can tell you which monitor is correctly calibrated, chances are neither one is correct. Take burkphoto's advice that he offered above. :)

I have that set-up with all the tabs on the second monitor, both are calibrated by ColorMunki, my second screen is of somewhat lower quality. I do all my adjustments on my best monitor including print proofing and printing using the appropriate ICC profiles for the paper hat is being print and let LR/PS manage the colors

I doubt that you can without calibrating software. The Spyder that I use gives you a graph when it's done showing what percentage of sRGB, Adobe RGB, and ProPhoto RGB color gamut your calibration falls into.

Calibration is used to coordinate the image you see on the monitor with the printed image. So there is not really a "correct" one to use for your editing program. Get a calibration device, such as the Spyder5 and let it do the calibration for you. When printing be sure to use your photo paper's ICC profile.

If you like the way an image comes out after calibration, then it is good!

I had the same problem with my HP Pavilion computer and found out that the video card you have in your computer is the determining factor for calibrating 2 monitors. The video card has to have dual LUT (Look Up Tables) capability. Even though my HP specs said it did, I could never get the second monitor to match the primary monitor. Now I have a new Dell computer with a 4GB video card that is a more high end card and it seems to work fine even with the 2 different monitors that I use. I just ordered another 27" HP monitor to match my primary monitor so I'm hoping that I have not problems.

The one that matches your prints. Or... the one that matches your client's(?) monitor. Whichever is more important.

I have a 22 inch Acer and a 22 inch HP monitor , I use a spyder Monkey to calibrate them.
The same pic on both monitors , they both look the same.

It isn't just a problem of getting them to look the same. They must be calibrated to a color standard. Otherwise you will have 2 monitors that display colors that are different from what a printer will produce - sometimes terribly different. Spyder and ColorMunki are both sold on Amazon. I have used ColorMunki for several years with excellent results.
