How do you know that God likes math?

He said, "Go forth and multiply."

Two snakes wriggled up to him and said, "We can't multiply; we are adders."
He replied, "No problem.
Use logarithms."

I have a Nikon D5600, went to the camera store and tried out the Tamron 150-600mm lens, It was great they did not have the Nikkor 200-500mm to try or the Sigma 150-600 back ordered. My problem is the weight for a short 4'11, 66yr old women. Is there a zoom lens combination I could get with sharpness & length similar to the super zooms without the weight, or am I out of luck?

If the problem is holding the lens while making an exposure, try using it with a monopod. The monopod takes the weight making it easier to gold the lens steady.
If the problem is carrying the camera and lens around, try putting the camera on your shoulder use the monopod to hold the camera in place.

When I was very young (early 1950's) we had a toy like that you unscrewed the nose and put in a cap (which you had to tear the corners off to make it fit, then you would hold it by the fins and toss it in the air, when it hit nose down you got a bang. Well its was fun then !!!

I remember those!

I was fooling around with a few twirls, what do you think of them?

I like the swirls but they overwhelm the subject.
The twirls make a photo by themselves without the subject.

We use the large containers of laundry detergent. The heavy walls of the containers are great for making a vinyl patch when I am repairing household items in my shop.  I was looking at one of the bottles this morning and struck an idea; reuse the bottle for a gasoline can.   Paint it red.  Label it as  "GASOLINE" with a paint stick. Save $25.00   I have multiple gasoline powered yard tools and a generator.  I drive out-of-the-way to purchase real gasoline (ethanol-free) and I fill about eight cans.
I would of course test it outside for a few weeks before putting it into practice.  Other than the legality issues, anything else I should watch for?

Not all plastics are created equal. Gasoline will dissolve some plastics.
It is safer to stick to plastics that have been tested and approved for the purpose. A few dollars saved is not worth a fire that results in a great financial loss
In addition to legal problems you could face.

Many mammals, including mice, birds, fish, and many invertebrates have photoreceptors that detect UV. Humans do not have detectors sensitive in the UV range.

Humingbirds have UV sensetive cones. In additional to seeing the UV they can also see on spectral colours As a result of the simultaneous stimulation of the UV sensetive cones and the red, green or blue sensetive cones. What a rich colour vision they must have!

All mushrooms are edible. Some are only edible once!

Actually some mushrooms are so tough and woody it is doubtful you could even chew them enough to swallow them. I would characterizes those as inedible even though they are not poisonous.

WOW!!! You have quite a variety of mushrooms and have submitted excellent photographs of them as well. Are any of them edible that you know of? I love mushrooms but would be afraid to try any for fear they might be the non edible poisonous type.

Dennis

Some of those mushrooms are for sure poisonous. A couple of them look somewhat like some edible species. For anyone interested in foraging for edible mushrooms, get at least two preferably more books on the subject. Identifying wild mushrooms is a lot of fun but take the time to learn how to do it safely.
You cannot do it just by looking at photographs or illustrations. You must learn about the morphology of mushrooms and be sure of all the characteristics of the ones you select.
WARNING: There is a relatively new app that claims to be able to identify mushrooms from a photograph. I have not tried it but I would not risk my health on such an app. I do not believe a photograph is sufficient since some edible mushrooms have poisonous look alikes.
Some edible mushrooms are easily identified. Start with those first. Also learn about the deadliest poisonous mushrooms. Some Amenitas look much like the common meadow mushroom but they are very poisonous. By learning about these, you can avoid them.
Stay safe.

The most interesting results you will get will be from the fluorescent properties of the objects you are photographing.
Some minerals fluorece strongly under UV light.
Many other substances also fluoresce under UV as di some fluorescent markers, paints and other art supplies. awell.
Experiment with a variety of materials and see what you get. Please share your results.
