While we're on this thread, I'll just post my own 2-cent opinion on a similarly unpleasant read that has stuck in my mind the moment I started struggling through it: Mrs. Dalloway. Stylistically, Joyce & Wolfe may have been imaginative artists, but give Twain any day, instead.
