How could one explain being speechless?

I don't understand why you were speechless so I thought I ask assuming I missed something. S-

How about one version with the twig removed? Would the OP prefer it?

It's purpose is to assess an image's suitability as a stock photo. Bearing in mind that the internet is already awash with certain types of images, it's probably designed to favour shots that are refreshingly different. Because of that, it possibly goes against a shot if it's classified as an "autumn" image or a landscape shot with nothing distinctive about it (and so on).

I like you and think we'll keep you! Laf

I wouldn't feel too bad, it rated one of mine at 0.0%. How does anything get 0.0%? LAF

That most assuredly has all the characteristics of a passport photo!

Geez I hate pictures of me! Why do you think I'm the family photographer?

I did the best I could with what I had to work with, no camera and not even a cell phone, but there was a laptop handy and it had a camera built in so while checking my email, I clicked the camera button and here I am, sweaty and tired, in the midst of a brutal day of helping my son move out of his house, the biggest mess you've ever seen in 90 degree Mississippi heat. First is the photo I took, and second is the flip.

I like the first one better (the as-shot), it seems more normal somehow, if there is such a thing as normal.
That most assuredly has all the characteristics of... (show quote)

It makes sense, but it's interesting we like the mirror shot better and yet the world sees the real us. Thank you for participating! S-

I think it's a common trait. Not only do I not like photo booths, I feel incredibly silly when I'm sitting in them - and it shows. Gorilla with a headache is the usual look that I end up with.

So it's not just me. Whew! And who thought of this assignment anyway? laf

And since the secrets out I thought I'd open this to a discussion.

I came across this Why don't people like having their picture taken? and thought it would be an interesting experiment.

What do you think, and more importantly what's your experience? S-

Photography is about IMAGES!
From somewhere in my younger days I recall the basic truth:

"DARES" GO FIRST!

It took me a few minutes to get past taking a selfie, but with a 'little prompting' here's my updated passport photo... S-

Today's post is an assignment and discussion to follow, but before I give up the story let's get on with the assignment.

Step 1 -
Find a solid background with some even lighting and take a selfie, or have someone take your picture.

Step 2 -
Open the image in post production and mirror it. Left becomes right and right becomes left.

Step 3 -
Compare the two images and decide which one you like and why then explain why.
- You don't have to post them here, but it will make the discussion that much more interesting.

The discussion will follow the first few brave souls who join in. Enjoy! S-
