Tomcat's reply opposing the 13" display is so easy to answer without the loss of a laptop's portability by attaching an external display of your chose.
You simply use your laptop's user inputs devices or provide blue tooth keyboard and mouse and/or keypad.
I use a fully decked out 13" Mac Book Pro this way instead of a larger desktop equivalent.
You use the laptop in the "clamp shell mode" . .. closed and out of the way. Or as a second screen which provides for very useful when editing in post processing mode. It just made more sense to the way that I work .. . maybe not for others.

I'm not too sure that the "focus ring" moves when the camera body responds to a user initiated focus request via the shutter release button.
It should have the ability to slip so that a user gripping it as they are holding the camera will not impede the focusing operation.
So the real question is this: does the camera/lens combination perform the focusing operation when you request it?
It is assumed that both the body and lens switches are set to auto focus mode and not set to manual focus in either location.

The Mac book air basic model uses an Intel I3 dual core CPU which isn't all that good. The upgraded model uses an I5 with quad cores and is well worth the extra cost. Then the is thievery poor cooling which will throttle CPU performance as heat builds up with heavy use.

If you think the above might push you to go with the upgraded Air then you'd be very wise to consider the 13" Mac Book Pro laptop as it will come with the I5 CPU and better cooling.

I'd suggest going with the base model Mac Book Pro. I would think very seriously about upgrading from 8Gb of ram, the standard, to 16GB as once bought it is impossible to upgrade the ram.

There are other pluses and minuses between the two .. so google this to see for yourself before you makeup your mind.

Do take advantage of the Apple on-line reconditioned models as they are an excellent way to save $ with no risk involved.

Good luck.

Yes a great capture as noted by one and all. Thanks for describing the work involved as it helps us to learn.

But even more importantly, WELCOME as a new member!

Then you have never tried Dandelion wine . . . !
Or even something as mundane as using it in your salads.

I'd suggest that you should be certain not to zoom out and then back in too often as this will induce "dust" into your lens. Leave it extended in the most used zoom position as you walk about.

Jerry . . .Amazon batteries are top listed when compared with their competitors. I always order them in bulk to have on hand.
Have a great New Year!

I can't comment on the Mid 2012 MBP's ability to support 2560 X 1440 display resolution. I can verify that it will support 1920 X 1080 with ease as can be seen in the attached screen clip from my MBP and its attached Samsung display. The combination works well and very reliably.

(Sorry . . no way to attach image . .. trust me it works perfectly!)

I've owned and used mine for several years. I bought mine just as the 200-500 came out. I opted g=fro the 80-400 because of the 80mm lower end. I wanted more zoom range.
If I had it to do over again, I would have saved many$ and have gotten the better performance of the 200-500mm zoom or even considered the Tamron.
My copy of the 80-400 seems to love to collect "stuff" as a function of zoom activations over time. It simply sucks it in and out as if it had no filters to limit the ingestions of same. So what ever you use restrict your use of zoom to only when needed!
I'm not all that happy with sharpness vs. $ invested . . it's not really a world beater! Good but not excellent.
I love to use it with extension tubes and find that it will then produce excellent images with crisp sharpness and great bokeh!

Good luck making your decision.

Last week there were reported an estimated 20,000 snow geese at Bombay Hook, Delaware. Can any one verify this with visual sightings?

You should be able to verify all of your 32/64 bit software drivers and apps using the directions provided via this website:

I still use Elements 10 and it will open D750 .nef files. You need to update your ACR (RAW files preprocessor in Elements). Once you dod that your present MAC will process D750 files.
If you buy a new MAC it will be supplied with Catalina operating system which will NOT play well with ay of Adobe file handling software. The new MAC software will only work with 64 bit applications and drivers. In simple terms, some Adobe drivers etc are still 32 bit and as such will not work. Adobe is "working the issue". They have had over a year and still no completely functional Catalina software are in place!
GOOD luck with your search.

I'd update my Elements 10 ACR version and stick with what you have for now.

Sippy Jug,

I've been following your stacks and they are fantastic.
Many years ago when I was in film, I had a Leica IIIF with a Visoflex, the bellows and the 135mm that was aired with it. I played around with macro but soon gave it up for street photography with that followed by wildlife in general.

Oh how I'd lave to have that rig now.

My crane flies were captured with my iPhone. I always forget how well it can work . .but then I'm forced by circumstances to grab it for "grabs" along the way. . . . I'm seldom disappointed.

CPO . . . . You are correct!
They were a pair of crane flies.
First time for me and I'm not young and grew up in the country.
