Last week there were reported an estimated 20,000 snow geese at Bombay Hook, Delaware. Can any one verify this with visual sightings?

That's a little light for this time of year. It can be as many as 200,000.

On November 26 I didn't count them but I would guess there were at least that many in the water or in the air. In addition, some of the farm fields I passed on the way home were white with Snow Geese.

I drove past to get to Finis Pool so I could shoot this guy.

Check for hunting days when they close part of the refuge.

Thanks Gene.

If this was the shot you saw in Delaware Birding they got it here. This is the only place I posted it.
Before I left that day I pointed out a good place to set up and wait for the birds to return, after two guys chased them away. Maybe one of them got it.

We have a small lake a few miles south of Wasilla, alongside the Glenn Hwy that we like to hike around. It’s a nice place and the walking path around it is easy. Used to be that in the springtime, there were lots of ducks, geese and swans that would set in there on their way north to their breeding grounds. I’ve gotten some pretty nice photos there. In the fall, the same birds would come back for a short break, and there were even some summer residents. Not anymore. It’s unfortunate that parents don’t or won’t ride herd on their kids. I’ve seen kids throw rocks at ducks and grebes, and people let their dogs chase the birds. Unfortunately the Matanuska-Susitna Borough doesn’t have the funding to keep a park ranger there all the time. It’s still a nice walk around the lake, but very few waterfowl there anymore. Sad.

Yeah ....a quarter of a million is closer to the average visit of these critters that cover entire fields for as far as one can see I've experienced. They can be a nuisance.
