My wife and I saw Peter Frampton at ACL Live at the Moody Theater this past Monday. It was a great show; the band played for about 2-1/2 hours! He played all his big hits, and some lesser known songs. He also played great covers of "Black Hole Sun" and "Georgia". The band jammed for almost 20 minutes on "Do You Feel Like We Do"!

Peter is suffering from inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder characterised by muscle inflammation, weakness, and atrophy. He and the rest of the band played seated the entire night. "Standing", he told Guitar World in September 2022, "would be dangerous for me now, because I get so carried away when I'm playing that I'm liable to fall over". Frampton continued, "It's starting to affect my hands, but not enough yet, so I can still play a good lick. But I'll be honest, I'm anxious about it."

This tour was the "Never Say Never" tour, as he did not think he would still be able to play. At the end of the show, he said he would keep fighting the disease and playing as long as he was able.

All photos taken with my "concert camera", a Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS80, at ISO 5000.

Great pics! He’s one of the best! When his album featured him glammed up with an open shirt, it hurt his reputation. It was a throwaway moment that his photographer suggested.

I really hope the disease doesn’t affect him too much

Thanks much, Tom. I am 81 and still working with my skid steer and chainsaws around the farm and helping out with the horses. Planning on doing that for the next 20 or 30 years.

John

Very nice results given the limitations you described earlier.

You’re my new hero; not only did you attempt this as a novice but an 81 yo
One to boot!!

Very well done

[quote=Timmers]It is of great interest to me your comments.

Tim;

Another great set! I especially love the pool shot. It really works for me on so many levels, I need to revisit it and take a closer look as to why I'm drawn to this (besides the obvious reasons of course)

And not only do you provide me inspiration, you also throw in occasional technical specs regarding how an image was conceived and shot- valuable for me!

Thank you

[quote=dpullum]"Serena in the kiddy pool." and a photo of her as a 6 month child in a similar pool... One pure the other not? I will ask my Baptist minister in small town south for a decision and a full discussion for my edification. Perhaps a Sunday Serman subject with large poster behind him... now that would be interesting~!!!

dpullum;

Your posts are always enjoyable, funny and thought-provoking

Pls keep doing what you're doing!

[quote=Timmers]This is a teaser as there are several in the set.

I needed this to be serial as there are multiple sets of ideas being presented.

"Clutter' as many tell me is NOT an issue. I know there are some who love to do simplistic images and by now I think most who have seen my work will understand that is not my "cup of tea".

Very nice image (as usual) I'd love to attempt this genre of photography but besides finding willing models, my biggest hurdle is not having any idea how to photograph someone without falling into cliche mode (I'm in no position to criticize ANY attempt at this art form since the photographer has at least found a willing model, it's just not something that interests me)

Your nude photography is so different from what I usually see. Truthfully, I didn't quite understand it at first (in retrospect, I guess that was because you weren't presenting work I've seen over and over) but now I get it, thanks to your above post.

I find myself saying that even if I had a willing model, I wouldn't have any idea how I would want to photograph her and to me, that's extremely frustrating.

Thank you and please keep doing what you're doing.

best,
Paul

[quote=Timmers]Where the rear of the studio ends and the fence begins. Just enough space to fit that petit Starena in.

I enjoyed your backstory "almost" as much as the models. Very nicely done and inspirational

One more original "Yellow" pin-up image and I was intrigued by a comment from the last image to make it more "painting" like. Interesting playing around with that type of effect, clearly I am on the lower end of the learning curve, but may get better with more experience.

Thanks all for the kind worlds on the "Pin-Up" series, may be a few more in there I can find when time allows.

These are great. Truly love your work

Anybody know what that could mean?
Does in fact mean?
I was preparing to buy the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm wide angle lens, based on community comments, for my D810.
Sounds perfect for what I need to do.
Then I read the "compatible with limited functions" line.
? ?

That lens is not designed for ff cameras. Also, It's a newer design, being an AF-P lens. It would work perfectly on a D7500, not so much on a ff D810

I know Adorama buys old gear. I also heard MPB does. Anyone know of any others? Who is best to sell old gear to?

Thanks in advance.

I've had great experiences with both MPB and KEH.

good luck

Thank you Paul

I can't remember they exact lighting set up, but the attached photo is the basic setup for "The Bath" series at that time, I'm sure there was a lot more light added for Cheryls set
The Lights were Alien Bees with Paul C Buff soft boxes with front diffusion panels.

Very cool, and informative. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks Paul, I didn't go and buy them all at once that's for sure. My wife opens the door to my room with my photo equipment and computer and says that is ridiculous. So I did some brain searching and sold most of my specialty lenses and stuck with what I'm really goingvto use the most. I can see my Z9 taking me to the grave. I may sell my 24-70 since I have it in f and z mount.

So I purchased the Nikon Z9 about 4 weeks ago. I did it for the silent shutter and eye detection for people and animals. Yes this works to my satisfaction. The image quality is the same as my D850 I would say. I sold 15 or 16 of my lens to scale down but with hard choice kept my Tamron 15-30 24-70 70-200 all in G2 series. Also kept my Nikon 200-500 and for portrait the Nikon 105 1.4e oh and the nifty 50 1.8. My dilemma is I read articles where people say you must use Z lenses to get full quality out of the camera. So I think about selling these lenses. Today since it was nice out I took these lenses outside and tested each one on the camera and ( yes it came with a free ftz2 adapter ) they all were spot on with quick AF and picked up my dogs eye immediately as he ran around the yard. I also bought the Z 24-70s and the f mounts were just as quick in my opinion. So I'm torn whether it's worth the sale of the Fmount to go Zmount. If Z is quicker to focus its milliseconds I would say.

Congrats on your Z9. It sounds like you're enjoying it! I just can't get over the fact that you sold 15 or 16 lenses and kept 6. If my math is correct, that's 21 or 22 lenses! I cannot imagine owning and using that many lenses. This is in no way a criticism. I think it's great that you can pick and choose what you sell and what you hold onto now that you have the Z9.

I own a Z50 and the 2 kit lenses. A full frame Z camera is just not in my budget right now. I've heard great things regarding the "S" line of Z lenses compared to their F mount counterparts. It's nice that you're not really seeing a difference between your F mount and Z mount lenses.

Please keep us posted and best of luck to you with your Z9!

The first is a classic painting pose. To check out Paul's reference to Edward Weston's nudes I Googled. Oh Oh, I Looked at Weston's photos and now have a problem... Paul probably has a problem too.

I looked at Weston's nudes and saw the nude womanly curvature beauty of the back view of a porcelain commode. That is not normal! My insurance covers counseling, which perhaps is now needed.

Warning... do not look at his nudes you too may be destabilized... and you will see sexy shapes wherever you look!!!

@dpullum; That was very funny, and thanks for that link! What actually remind me of Weston's nudes besides the pose was the edge lighting. It's that bright background "competing" with the model's skin.

I'd love to hear from the OP regarding how this photograph was lit and the post processing used. There is also a beautiful glow to the model's skin.
