Thank you all for your comments. I was simply clearing my mind of some thoughts I had after reading a post about comparing the results of different cameras each using a different lens and trying to compare the results. It seemed the OP was expecting the same results and the same photo content.

I take photos for my enjoyment and if I take one that someone else likes and would like to have, I'll happily provide a copy, for a donation.

I often see and read posts about the discrepancies of results between different camera makes with different lenses on each and the resultant differences of the images. Why wouldn't there be differences? If one wants to get the same results in photographs from two cameras, why not use the same make and model camera with a lens made specifically for that camera brand? My thoughts are that for consistency in IQ, color, and resolution Use the same brand of cameras with the same brand of lens on each. We all apparently agree that one camera is going to have a slightly different color and quality than another make or even model. That's why we each have our preferred brand and model of camera. We also all have different preferences in post processing (if used) to adjust our final version of our photos. Just my thoughts and musings.

A date some will never forget...60 years ago...the great Alaska earthquake! Taken at Earthquake Park in Anchorage last September.

In 2014 my wife and I visited the museum in down town Anchorage that had much information and many photographs and displays of that fateful day. Very interesting and informative.

Why are there so many different ways to attach windshield wipers? I just replaced the wipers on my son's Honda Fit, and it took me a while. I bought a set of three wipers made for the Fit, but I had to spend time reading and trying to figure out the directions. I've been putting wipers on cars since the 1960s, but these wipers had 4-step directions that weren't very clear. Once I knew how they worked, it was simple. There were too many moving parts in the fitting, with no obvious way to attach them. I had to lift a little door, raise the piece opposite it, and the slide the wiper arm into place. I got the two front wipers installed easily after understanding the system. For some reason, Honda uses a different system for the rear wiper. It's a simple slide-off-slide-on. I dread the day when I'll have to remove these. 😁

One nice thing - I brought his car to Walt, a local guy. When he was finished, he phoned and said that the wipers needed replacing, and he could do it. I told him that I had the wipers at home (a $19 set of three). A few years ago, I brought my own car to a shop in town. When I picked it up, there was a charge of $63 to replace the wipers. I prefer DIY.

EDITED: Maybe the dealer gave me a break. Here are two wipers for $64, plus tax. The one for the rear costs $50.

Bosch Icon wipers are generally rated the best in comparison tests.

I went to a local Advance Auto Parts store and bought new wiper blades for mine and my wife's cars a couple years ago. The salesman asked if I wanted the guarantee. When I asked why I would want it he explained that for $5 per blade, I could return within a year and the blades would be replaced free. I would have the option of renewing the guarantee on each for the $5 fee. Having two different sized ones on my car and three separate ones on the wife's car, so I thought sure, why not? Then the salesman installed them for me. I went back this past year and got new blades installed for about one quarter the price of buying them without the guarantee, maybe less.

I think we have been living with the possibility that bridges will be struck by watercraft, shaken down by hurricanes, or damaged in many other ways by nature and man.

I constantly struggle to come up with what to shoot. Does it come randomly to you? Or do you plan and brainstorm and imagine the final picture first and then arrange to make it happen?

Do you shoot what you happened to see? Or do you create your shots?

My photos are most often a scene that has spoken to me. Others are something that I feel others may like to see. Then once in a while, my mind suggests a certain set-up that requires me to gather props or subject matter and arrange it. Then again there are the times when I am requested to take a certain type of photo, such as portraits.

In today's mail, I had a letter from the government... Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The letter began with: "You now have a new Medicare Number and your previous Medicare Number is no longer valid. Your new Medicare card is inside." It further informs me that the new card/number is effective April 2 and that I should inform my providers of the change.

I have no idea why they would replace my Medicare card and assign me a new/different number.

Has this happened to any of you UHHers?

My guess is that part of the new number is a flag to doctors and hospitals that... this old guy has cost us enough money... treat him accordingly... been nice communicating with you UHHers.

I would call 1(800) Medicare (the number should be on the back of your original card) and inquire as to the veracity of the letter. I have had phone scammers ask if I have received my new Medicare Card. WHat you describe sounds like a written version of it. Call Medicare ASAP.

In the first picture, the second moose only has one antler remaining. This was the closest encounter I have had with moose, and they were fairly cooperative. The last image is a second encounter on another day. I hope you enjoy.

Some excellently awesome photos. I've ben to Alaska twice and only once saw the hind quarters of a moose as it escaped into the brush.

Neither my wife nor I looked quite as good as the figures in the pic, but it resembles the night we met. Exactly one year later, we stood in front of an altar with a priest and family and friends to speak our wedding vows. That was nearly 51 years ago.

Yeah, college sports in the US is crazy and deeply corrupt. But I don't see how that would lead to its demise. Personally I don't see how anything can stop it short of a government take-over. And that won't ever happen.

If there is corruption in college level sports, what guarantees it is not also present in professional and major league sports? With the high prices for sporting events, all the hype, the huge and outrageous salaries for the players, the cost of stadiums, and on and on, can corruption be ruled out completely?

Obviously I am not a huge sports fan. However, I can appreciate that many people do get much enjoyment from watching and rooting sports. Comments are sure to be made, but please don't be too harsh, let's keep it civil.

Before you tell me that this should be in the "AI Artistry & Creation" section, I did initially post this only to that AI section. The owner of the AI section sent me a PM stating "Your topic AI Crucifixion was deleted. Please do not post christian imagery in this section." REALLY??? I checked the "Please read" post in the AI section, and it showed nothing about religious imagery. I wonder if the owner of that section is anti-Christian?

So, re-posting it here...we regularly see pictures here of churches and other religious topics. The images shown were created using Bing Creator AI using the text: "Crucifixion on Calvary, with 2 additional crosses for thieves, sky background, saying INRI on top of Jesus' cross, with Mary, Martha, St. John, Roman Soldiers." There were several images created, and here are the best of the lot. Note that in the last 2 shown, it put the INRI (which translated is: Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews) onto to thieves crosses, so I blurred those out in post.
Before you tell me that this should be in the &quo... (show quote)

I'm not a fan of AI images as substitution for actual photographs. That having been typed, I can accept AI as a substitution for a painting of a historical event for which no photographs would be available. In this case, I find the images very well composed, relatively appropriate and very impressive. Also, as a Christian I appreciate the message conveyed by the images. Thank you for insuring they are available for review and comment.
