A date some will never forget...60 years ago...the great Alaska earthquake! Taken at Earthquake Park in Anchorage last September.
The irony, the quake happened on Good Friday.
One year later we had a fairly moderate quake 03/27/65 in Santiago Chile. Killed around 50 people , collapse of roof in racetrack
Almost widowed a few hours after marrying.
Back then you married twice, Civil marriage that morning , Church wedding planned for 2 weeks later..
My parents had a lunch for us, quake struck, my recent wife ran to front door ( her parents lived across street) , I grabbed by shirt collar ( almost strangled her by her recall) , opens door and a rain of heavy Spanish style clay roofing tiles just missed her.
Remembering today, 59 wonderful years later

In 2014 my wife and I visited the museum in down town Anchorage that had much information and many photographs and displays of that fateful day. Very interesting and informative.
