To me #1 is about the green hills, #2 is about the mountain, and #3 is about the sky. What did you want to draw the eye?
I agree with others about the color

#1 is really great. I like the abstract feel and how you have to really look to see what it is. The eyes are especially good

I shop for used frames in thrift stores. Most need a good cleaning and a little touch up, but you can get amazing frames, complete with mat and glass, for $5. Costco is good for canvas prints. If you print them yourself you will still need to stretch the canvas. I hang canvas prints without a frame (the photo wraps around the edge) for a plain and simple display.

That was my family’s favorite beach when I was a child. I spent many hours playing there. And my father’s ashes were scattered in the ocean there.

There's only two types of people in the world: buyers and subscribers.

There are 3 types. I am very happy with GIMP. It’s free. No subscription. No buying. Does everything I need, and more. Easy to use and learn, with lots of potential to learn more. I think it does just about everything the others do except you need to convert RAW.

Looks like it might have avian pink eye, which usually results in blindness and starvation. It is contagious. If you have bird feeders take them down and wash them thoroughly and also clean up the ground under them to prevent it spreading to other birds.

Pretty nice. 113 degrees?

Probably in the sun. It was about 100. Way too hot for September!

Taken as I walked out in my backyard to set up my trail camera. 5 deer were feeding (it's dogwood berry season. only two stopped eating to see what I was up to. they know there are no dangers in the area.
I wish I could find a trail camera with higher resolution.

are you gonna take my picture?

Don’t down play wrinkles. They are hard-earned, and can be beautiful.

Of course they are not so cute when they run into your car when driving.

No wonder they crash. It must be hard to steer with hooves. 😉

First thing is talk to her. Just because she is elderly and has disabilities doesn’t mean she can’t tell you what her expectations/hopes are. I like to do portraits of nursing home residents. Be friendly and help her relax. Older people have a special beauty in that their faces show more individuality. Young “beauties” have a sameness while older folks show more personality and reflect their experience and character. If possible have an assistant to help bring out the expression of her interaction. If no assistant, get her to think or talk about a person or time that was important. It will show up in her eyes.

I investigated e-frames and decided that I like a stand-alone computer better. I put all the photos into a screen saver file (I have sub-folders [by topic or person] I can choose if I want to, such as for someone’s birthday). That way I get a larger screen than e-frames have, and I can store/show a larger number of photos. Plus, I can edit any photo that I notice needs something because I have GIMP (free post processing app) on the machine.

thanks for filling in a bit of the history. I would have loved to see the area prior to the dam. the entire ride along the Columbia was terrific.

If you google Celilo Falls you will see many photographs. My father painted the scene and the painting has always been one of my favorites, partly because the area has changed so much.

When I was growing up in Portland we frequently visited the Dalles. Before the they built the dam there was a beautiful falls (Celilo Falls) where the Native Americans from the region gathered every year to catch salmon during their run upstream to spawn. They built wooden platforms on the cliffs and used long dipnets to pull the fish from the river as the fish were trying to jump the falls. During fishing season the fishermen and their families lived in shacks nearby. There was an overhead trolly with a small box that transported fish from the island in the middle of the river to the people processing the salmon on the Oregon-side river bank.
The dam has a fish ladder and windows to watch the fish, but it is a major obstacle and there are not as many fish as before. The loss of the fishing ground was also a major economic blow to the families.
