I purchased this for shooting hockey games. The suction cups will not hold onto the cold glass and was a real great disappointment. Normal temps it works fine.... I would say save your money and purchase a rubber lens hood. Overpriced from my point of view.

I also use the lens skirt. Works like a charm. I use it to photograph my tropical fish in their aquaria among other things.

This is the type of answer and well as the type of question that tends to justify the response: why don't you google and research it yourself?

You'll likely need to download and install the current D7100 firmware updates to enable the AF-P lens. But, the lens is listed as compatible with only a minor bit of initiative and investigation to find a compatibility chart from B&H. A more definitive response can be obtained directly from the Nikon site, much more definitive than B&H and / or the UHH crowd ...

Why are some hoggers really nice and helpful and others are like like chg canon? If you feel that someone should look up info for themselves don't reply and subject the rest of us to your snark.

You are going on a major trip to multiple parks and want to limit yourself to one lens????
No lens with that long a zoom scale is tops in IQ, and what about night or low light situations? It isn't a speed demon either.
I would say take a camera bag and at least a fast lens for night etc. and a flash in addition to the 18-300.

A cell phone is a communication device that has been engineered to be able to take photos. A cell phone is first and foremost a phone which is why it is named and marketed as it is. A camera is a camera - specific tool designed just for photography. Different folks have different views of what is real.
