Why is it that so many supposedly "educated" people have adopted the word "impact" to mean affect. We have become a generation of ubiquitously, uneducated, grammatical, morons.

Maybe because it is the second definition in the Oxford dictionary. Similes include affect and influence.

The f stop of the 200-500 lens will be a problem with the 1.4x teleconverter. You will lose 1.4x the lowest f stop which could make the autofocus erratic. therefore the teleconverter is not recommended with a f5.6 lens.

Not true according to Nikon USA. The Nikon TC-1.4 III is recommended on the 200-500mm provided that the camera body can autofocus with a f8 lens. The problem that you run into is that your auto focus points are decreased to only 15 on a D850. I don't know how many autofocus points the D750 has with an f8 lens.

That is a great deal. B&H hasn't updated their site yet. Adorama and NikonUSA both have it.

Is this for a used D610? Legit dealers are charging $1599 for a new US D610. Nikon pricing is set by NikonUSA and they won't repair any Nikon equipment that didn't come thru them.

I think it's safe to assume that Adobe are well aware of what their competitors are doing. It all comes down to what Adobe think is worth investing resources in. In some cases that will involve acquiring and developing the necessary expertise from scratch and then (hopefully) refining the resulting tools to produce an optimised photo editor that we all want and enjoy using*.

*OK, that's my wish list - what's yours? .

OK, I'm going to take the high road here and go back to the studio.

I have waited to see if anyone else would bring up Lightroom's lack of tethering functionality. Compared to C1, LR just doesn't cut it. If you do any studio work or macro work tethering is a godsend. The ability to fine tune focus and control your camera from your desktop or laptop really does improve your workflow. All you can do in LR is see your image and trip the camera's shutter. If you could pass this on to Adobe it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -
The purple and blue artifacts appear to be chromatic adoration. There are green artifacts also if you look very carefully. Very common when you shoot with your lens wide open or close to wide open. They are easily removed using Lightroom.

The object in the second image is a satellite of some sort.

The sharpest new lenses have rear elements where the rear surface is flat. The designers do this because light needs to strike the pixels on the sensor head on or as close to head on as possible. The more off center the more loss of sharpness. You don't want the light striking the pixel at more than 15 degrees off axis. If you look at older film lenses you'll see that rear elements are more likely to be convex.

Digital sensors have the ability to produce sharper images than film. For this reason any issues that were inherent in lenses that were designed prior to computer designed lenses become far more apparent when shooting digital. So your old Nikkor AI lenses will fit on new Nikon DSLR cameras but you might not get the sharpest images. You'll have to test and see for yourself.

There is a much better explaination of this in Thom Hogan's book Complete Guide to the Nikon D850. It's a download and a great read if you own a D850 or are thinking about buying one.

I'm supprized that this site does not have a lost and stolen section like the one on the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum (UMGF). It a place where members can post descriptions and serial numbers when gear disappears. It becomes a great resource for used gear buyers, pawn shops, and police departments to check when photo equipment shows up.

Yes and the Dugan Bread Man and the Charlie Chip Guy along with the Hood Milk man. When I was growing up the closest market was a half hour away by car down in the village so the home sales and delivery businesses thrived.

I want to once again thank everyone for their assistance on helping me get back on a computer. I'm sorry this string evolved into name calling and people doubting the accuracies of other members. I have posted an instruction which I found on Utube that explains how to perform resetting a password. At about 6:42 he enters what looks like DOS commands. I'm not computer savvy enough to proclaim absolutely that those are DOS commands he is using, but it sure looks like it to me. Chill everyone and thanks again!

I couldn't download the link but do the following:
Key in this question on UTube: How to get on a computer if you have forgotten the password. Then find the instruction for Windows 10 by Torogi PRO. Please view this before making any more statements about what can or can't be done, what is still out there and what is not, or getting mad at your neighbor because you think they may be wrong on the subject. ---------- Thanks!

Just watched the video and it looks like it will work. CMD brings up a DOS emulator that is part of windows. It takes DOS commands and translates them to Windows operating code so that they can be executed by the machine. Good luck and let us know if you are successful.

If the machine is new it is running Windows 10. DOS died at least 20 years ago. With Windows 10 you might see a reset password option under the password box after you enter an incorrect password. If it is there go ahead and click on it. If he set a password, you will be asked to answer a series of questions. After you correctly answer them the way he did you will be prompted to set a new password. Use that password to sign in. After you successfully log in set up an account for yourself with a password you will remember. This way you will have a back door in when this happens again.

If he set up a pin and doesn't remember that select sign in options and select sign in with password. Then follow the instructions above.

Remember that Google is your friend.
