A local store owner has a sign that reads "OPEN." When she closes she rearranges the letters to read "NOPE."
Google North Brother Island NY. I believe access is only boat. No bridge that I can see on maps. The island is off limits to visitors without a rarely granted permit for compelling scientific and academic purposes. It is off limits between March 21 and September 21 to protect nesting birds.

Every city has one (at least) of these places. I like the house' paint job...thanks for the photo.
Thank you for looking and for your comment. Download and see how many "treasures" you can find by clicking on different areas of the downloaded image. YNY.
Eclectic house and front yard in a city near where I live. The person who lives there periodically rearranges his collection. Zooming in on the photo with my computer at home is like one of those "I Spy" books where I try to recognize as many things as I can. Just starting to make regular use of this lens and camera. Please download to view details. Comments/suggestions are welcome.

The Transit Drive-in Theater is still popular and going strong in Lockport NY.
Wonderful photo, beautiful flower. Sweet quote from Ben Johnson.
As Keats might have said if he could have seen it:
""Beauty is truth, truth beauty," – that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know".
Thank you for posting,

Purchased this lens (refurbished at very good savings) for my D7200 but I am having a bit of remorse about having done so. I have not unpacked or opened the box yet and I was thinking of returning it. We are going to Mystic Connecticut in a few weeks and was considering taking it with us. If you use this lens are you happy with it? Do you regret buying it? Helpful comments are appreciated.
Thank you, YNY.
Yes I use Smugmug for family and other photos. I am happy with it. Easy for me to use. Mainly for sharing with friends/family. Yes, Smugmug acquired Flickr.
I have not ordered prints through them. I print mine at home or locally. No complaints so far.

Thank you. It was a unique opportunity to be in the harbor. I was with a group of parents waiting for SUNY Maritime College's school ship Empire State to return. I posted one good photo of her elsewhere on UHH. I may post two more that were OK. Most were not as sharp they could have been.

State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College's training ship Empire State negotiating the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City's East River in August 2016. Happy students line the decks. She was returning from a ninety day cruise to Europe and the Mediterranean. Every summer students go on forty five or ninety day cruises usually to Europe and the Mediterranean as part of their studies. My son graduated in 2017 and visited Copenhagen, Dublin, Cork, Barcelona, Malta, Trieste, La Spezia and other places on his cruises. As a parent of a third year student on his last cruise I was able to go out into the harbor at 2:00 AM on a tour boat to wait for the ship's return. The ship is a converted freighter with dorms, classrooms and cafeteria. She 565 feet long and has served to provide housing for relief operations following hurricanes Katrina, Sandy and Harvey. The school is in Throgs Neck NY and offers degrees in marine engineering and a variety of maritime related subjects.
