After considerable trial and error (mostly error) I made an acceptable depth map. The lens barrel is still a little "lumpy" but it better than before.
Has anyone else tried stereograms?

The hardest part of making a stereogram is making the depth map. I can find depth map generators for Windows but not for Mac. I made this one of my 40D by hand. In #1 the lens barrel looks round but at the wrong angle. In #2 it looks flat but does go from body to lens front. Note that the background is a pile of cameras.
Which do you prefer?
I am assuming that you can see the image in 3d. ;-)

The name of the original picture is Flughafen which is German for Airport. It is credited to Ho-Yeol Ryu. If you look at a large version you can see it is Hanover Flughafen. It is entirely a Photoshop creation. One of the planes is a Southwest which only flies in the USA. Also, larger planes always take off further down the field. It is supposed to be a commentary on Global warming. I didn't know Photshop was a leading cause. ;-)

That would take several days to take that many pictures of takeoffs at BHM. Attached is a panorama I took. It is about 40 images plus 11 of the SouthWest jet taking off.

Sunshine Skyway Bridge, a rare occasion where I was a passenger not driver.

That was the good old days. The new trend is a can of "fix a flat" and a miniature compressor. ;-)

I use the Cotton Carrier system. I have a hand strap on the camera and a holster when walking.

First I used the polygonal lasso tool (feather 5 pixels) to select the faces. see attachment
Then, Adjust Color Balance, add blue and some red.
Next was some trial and error, burn at 15%, adjust exposure, even some clone at 10%.
Obviously, this was all on a duplicate layer.
When I was reasonably satisfied, I selected inverse and worked on the rest of the grass.
Content aware removed the paper bag and cup.
I welcome other people's suggestions.

It is not perfect but if you had never seen the original you might not notice the errors.

When you post on this blog the max picture size is 600X400 unless you click on "store original"
try uploading again with store original or
Make a copy of original, use rectangular marquee tool set to fixed size 600X400. Move the rectangle over their heads and image>crop. then post that.

If you will post just the cropped area, I can try a few things. the image is too small to do much. The rest is easily fixed with the healing brush.

As a matter of fact, there is.

and another one.

attached are some other experiments to find what works and what doesn't. The first is window blinds on a flower pot.
Next is a green pepper with wood tones. I thought about taking a wooden apple and making it red. LOL
Last is a psychedelic Bean. The proper name for the stainless steel sculpture in Chicago is Cloudgate but every one calls it the bean. Because there is no texture on the steel, I just used the warp tool.
Would love to see what others try.
