I've got a Pixma TR4520. For the most part, it does a fairly good job. However, whatever changes I make to my image, it does not print out. I've got an image of the adobe church in Taos. I've tried to lighten it to open the shadow areas, but it doesn't happen. I've let the printer manage the color, Photoshop manage the color, and made changes to the image itself, to no avail! Any help out there, or at least point me in a direction? If you need more info, I would be more than happy to supply it.
Thanks,
MIke

Ok, I have had success in uploading a short video to Youtube for you to take a look at. This was done on my Macbook air and there are ways to do it on a Windows machine. I set up a folder on my desktop, designated it where I wanted my video to go and I was off and running. Audio can be added while it's being recorded or if you prefer you can edit it later using one of the many video editing software available. Hope this helps, lots of luck, and keep smiling

I know if I use a video camera and shoot the screen it would work but I wonder if I can somehow use a software to record what's on a computer screen directly. I need to make a video showing others how to use a software.

I don't know whether you are on Windows or a Mac, but this is how I did it on my Macbook, a real quick and dirty technique that will produce a Quicktime movie. I used Shift+comd+5 and told it where to put my video so i could find it later. Yes, there is a way to do it in Windows, just google that you want to record your screen.
Lets see if I can upload the video I did. Well that didn't work, I'll try another route.

It can be done on a Mac with no problem, and it can be easily done on a Windows machine. Best to google it.

I have made it an iron-clad rule, I don't shoot weddings, funerals, or Bar Mitzvahs!

Nice! I do the same thing, pickup interesting old cameras along the way. I'm not interested in trying to find "old and valuable", just some to add to my slowly growing collection!

I have a bunch of color negatives which I photographed and saved as jpegs and RAW files. Is there a free programme which can handle the conversion into positives, including the neutralization of the orange mask ?
(I tried GIMP but the learning curve is a bit too steep).

This is what I do, and I will try to not get into the weeds. I use Photoshop, so I dont know how it would work with other software.

After I open the image, I go to adjustments, and levels and select the white point "eyedropper". I then click on the un-exposed area of the negative. When I shoot my color negs, I make sure I have that portion of the outside of the negative that is not exposed, the area between frames. Once I do that I then "invert" it, I think that's in adjustments also. That will get you close enough to be able to work the color and other adjustments to get a decent image. I have been able to do this with several negs that are over forty years old. After you've done it a few times it comes pretty easy. Lots of luck and keep smiling!

What ever became of timmers? He was posting quite regularly, then there was a post of him cleaning out his studio, then nothing. Just wondering.

I've had good luck using a Griffin iMic. It's a USB interface that has a selectable Line/Mic input and is not expensive. I use Audacity for recording on my Macbook. I have not used Garageband. Lots of luck.

I use Codijy Pro to colorize old photos. It's fun and can be a real challenge at times. The software is developed in Odessa, Ukraine by some great people. They are still in operation and you can still get it if you want. I wanted to post this to show the resolve of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity.

This is a bit of a long post, but I ask you to read it to the end! Dear friends, I want to thank you for all your support. We, CODIJY team, continue our work. Ruslan is in evacuation with his children, I stay with my family in our hometown to support those who protect it, and those in need. We are restoring all operations, which has been on hiatus since the war came to our country, Ukraine.
For the last couple of months, we have continued to work hard on CODIJY products. We have been working in several directions - developing the current version, refining the new product, adding new partners. Right now I'm working on finalizing the translation of the new website and will gradually update it depending on the situation.( If you can help me test it please PM).
Ruslan is in the process of restoring his work at his current location. We want to release an update, which should fix some critical issues that arose from the release of version 4 of CODIJY Colorizer Pro and CODIJY Recoloring.
Our partner company, which is building international channels for CODIJY on our behalf, this week signed an agreement with Ashampoo company, who will promote our product through their channels, which we hope will engage many more people into our creative circle and I hope that soon our group will greet new members!
We successfully work on more partnerships, because we have created a great product that even professional colorists like Dana Keller describes (in an email we received) as “an impressive achievement in implementing the colorization process into the user-friendly platform”. I want you to know that this is happening thanks to your invaluable support!
I’m sure you know that for years we relied on you, our community as the source of ideas and inspiration for our product development. We are constantly studying everything you published, both in terms of feedback and requests, and in terms of analysis of your works. I have been actively participating and supporting our community members whenever possible. With the growth of our project and the challenges we faced, I was upset to have fewer opportunities to engage in talks, but I've always kept an eye on our group’s creative dynamics and was endlessly impressed with all findings and styles that coexisted and were evolving in our group!
Knowing that people feel sad about the situation in our country today, I want to tell you that despite everything that happens, our project is here to bring joy, inspiration, creative discoveries, and fun. It’s a pain to think that you may feel upset when looking at the icon of our product or group. In case you do, please remember that the light of joy and creation in our world is always greater than the grief of suffering and destruction. This is what we not just feel, but know thanks to the support and prayers of the millions of people around the world.
All these days I was thinking how you may feel and what I can do for you. And the best idea I had was to encourage you to open CODIJY (or any app you are using ) and immerse yourself in the incredible colorizing process! I promise you that I'll be sure to join you quite soon!
With much love to all our friends,
Vera & Ruslan, the authors of CODIJY colorizing software, from Odessa, Ukraine

I think the radio station KDKA in Pittsburgh was the first commercial radio station. As someone mentioned a few days ago, stations east of the Mississippi have their station names begin with a "W," while those in the west begin with a "K." How does KDKA fit into that?

Essentially you are correct in that KDKA was the first commercial radio station and because it was the first one, it is east of Missippii river, and that is the division between the K and W call signs. However, there is one other that I know of and that is WOAI 1200am in San Antonio. How that happened I won't even venture to guess at.

Iplan on buying a Mini Mac in the fall. You can have it configured with 16gb of unified memory and a 1tb of storage. I've already got a great monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, both bluetooth. So for an expenditure of $1300 I'm all set. I know there are those out there that will say, not enough memory, etc. Right now I'm running a MacBook Air with 6 gb of RAM and a 526gb of SSD storage. Runs like a champ.

I like doing table top shooting, mainly because of a lack of space. I started with some cheap clamp on lighting fixtures from Ace. I then went to LED lights I found at Home Depot, I'm still using those. I then graduated to a set of fluorescent lights from Amazon. They work quite well and have never been a problem and work quite well for what I want to do. My choice was mainly from space and a VERY small budget.
