I have two cameras, a Rebel XTi4 (very recent upgrade) and a powershot SX50. When my husband goes on an outing with our daughter, and without me, I send the powershot along with them. HE HAS YET TO RETURN WITH ONE PICTURE WORTH KEEPING! He has yet to take one picture in focus with a digital point and shoot on auto camera! I have said a dozen times....press the shutter halfway, hear the beep, push it down the rest of the way?!? He works in advertising....he stares at photographs all day, he criticizes them, marks them up for re-touching but cannot take a picture to save his life. Don't worry, the art of photography is not lost yet.

Texting language in general is unnecessary! Typos and misspelled words make me crazy! How much effort does it take to spell a nine word Facebook status correctly? Every browser out there tells you if a word is wrong and a simple right click offers you the correct spelling? Worse yet are the pictures that are posted with a deep thought about love or Obama written across it and the text has a misspelled word.

Sorry. You guys pushed a button with that one! Phew! I feel so much better though. I wish I still smoked.

We live in SC and my wife wants to travel up the East Coast. We love photography of wildlife, the 4 legged type. Any suggestions on locations?

Don't negate the beaches, Long Island is wrapped in one great big one and Fire Island is one big preserve! If I were you I would google state parks for the ones you are passing thru or destined for, Roosevelt made sure there are plenty, even in the metropolis'.... http://nysparks.com/parks/

Correction. I aspired to take shots of jumpers like Thomas Shahan because I hadn't seen Martin Fishers yet!

How is it I've been in this forum a month and only found the Macro now! Thomas Shahan macro is what I aspire to. Warning...I'm going to be stalking you guys! The only macro's I've gotten have been with a powershot or Nikon P100. I am determined to do it with my Rebel, just need to absorb the info buried in these pages for the lenses that I need. I have a huge grin on my face right now, thank you!

They are lovely. It is a bit unnerving how the Mr. caught you eyeballing him courting his lady though.

Well my old Cannon SX20IS just had a lens error, restart camera error. The local repair facility said it would be more to fix than it is worth. Just wandering what everyone would recommend for a still fairly new photographer. I dont have lots to spend, but still would like to hear opinions.

Thanks'

You got lucky, that lens error plagued that Canon and the version before it....you had a long time with it. Mine was the shutter release. I now have the Canon Powershot SX50 and it is awesome. And the prices have come down on it.

I am a HUGE fan of the SX50. Took a picture of the moon two nights ago and posted on another site and the first question that came back.... "what lens did you use". I have a two Rebels with three lenses, XTi and XTi4 - but I depend on the SX50 to have in my bag with me at all times. It is a great camera. I don't use a neck strap with it. I purchased a wrist strap from a company called 31 bags, it is meant to hold keys - but it is perfect for the camera and steadies it nicely.

Yes, that is a new feature in some memory cards. It deletes images in which focus appears to be soft or in which people have closed eyes. Some of the more advanced cards will delete tilted horizon or in which the image just plain boring.

Oh- I ment to post this on April first.

Very funny! You had me crying a bit on this one!

So did you change lenses at the beach that windy day? If you did then you are lucky if dust spots on the sensor is all you got! Sand and grit can play havoc with a camera's insides, as my wife found out with her P&S. Cost quite a bit to get it fixed.[/quote]

I actually didn't, the purist at the shop blamed it on my lens being a Tamaron instead of a Canon ;). In all the time that I had the two I never separated them. But the entire family spent the summer on Fire Island and I spent it outside. Those spots appeared the first week. Once cleaned, I rigged a big zip lock around it. Now I have a fancy $9 number made to keep the weather off that I got on Amazon. A few perfect sunsets were lost to those wicked little spots!

Evil spots gone! This was my reward after cleaning...
