Hell - 8-track was new technology! I'm so old I built a crystal radio (some of you can look that up) and was thrilled when "transistor radios" came out - I had one with SEVEN transistors!

Can definitely remember building crystal sets and listening to them with an earphone piece 😀

Hi All,
have just started to get my head around using some pp programs and found that I had a copy of LR4
have tried using it and so far get a good idea of all the functions, however, it is not importing the raw files
I use a 5dMkiii and shoot both in raw and jpeg
Any ideas out there?
I do not want to purchase the latest and greatest yet until I see what can be achieved so far
Thanks in advance
Bob

Having visited this place 2 years ago I can truly say that it is truly the gates of he'll
The heat and noise is truly something to see and it must rate as one of the modern wonders of the world
We travelled from Istanbul to Beijing and the sites and people were truly amazing to see
Everyone should visit these countries with an open mind and perhaps they will come to the conclusion that we are all the same with he same hopes and aspirations as everyone else

I have actually been to where this film was shot
Absolutely fabulous scenery and the people would have to be the friendliest around
We were treated to a demonstration of the prowess of the eagle and it was certainly a sight to see
next day we watched goat polo and that again shows what incredibly talented people they are
Their life to us seems primitive but rest assured they are up to speed with the modern world , just like to keep to the old ways where possible

Hi,
hoping someone out there can help
I am trying to source a particular tool to use to adjust white balance
The one I have been shown is slightly larger than a deck of cards, it has a grey balance section on the back and at the front under a patterned semi clear opening section there is a matrix if coloured squares that if you take a picture with it beside the subject you can use the squares to adjust the colour cast in editing software
What i particularly like is the obscured section that you can shoot through and use that as your reference point for adjusting white balance rather than using a card which sometimes can be a little difficult to use and are easily damaged
Thanks in advance

With smart appliances becoming mainstream it won't be long before my cell phone alerts me that my refrigerator wants to be fed.

Samsung did that approx 15 years ago :D
Their fridges were/are internet savvy and can actually be used to monitor all the other appliances in your home (Samsung of course) and actually bookj a service technician when something is not right :-o

well the other half has now gone completely over to the "other side" she has changed her laptop running windows to Macbook air
she has a standalone hard drive with all of her photos on it When she plugs the hard drive into the MAc it does not recognise it
Asked apple and they have said that the drive will have to be reformatted for MAc Asked about existing files and was told that they would all be lost!!
What can we do with the existing files so that they are not lost and what to do with the drive??
Thanks in advance

I know that this may have been discussed before but will ask any way.
I am looking for a mounting plate that will be acceptable to both Swiss-Arc and Manfrotto receivers
I would preferably like to leave it in place on both camera and lenses that require that
The Manfrotto in question is the same as mounted on 322RC
I currently have a CSLR M Plate Pro monut on the 5D iii
Which I do like as it enables me to have both a shoulder strap and wrist strap at the same time and still mount it on a tripod
I cannot use it on my Manfrotto tripod unless I remove it completely which is a pain
Any suggestions?

Been in the industry for over 40 years and I constantly get asked this and similiar questions
Answer
RTFM
Seriously though the fan is designed to run constantly so that the system can measure the room temp air and cool it as required
in Heating mode the fan will cycle to super low when the desired temp is reached and then measure the air temp Super low is so that you do not feel a "cold" draught it is not available in cooling mode
If fan set to auto it will cycle through the fan speeds depending on the amount of cooling required
Good old Aussie no how :)

Yes you are right we do have some of the toughest rules on the planetr but for very good reason
ALL persons entering our country are required to complete a declaration form which clearly asks if you are carrying anything to declare and YOU must sign it personally
Failure to notify of ANYTHING can lead to fines and/or imprisonment
He should not have brought them into OUR country without declaring them
Yes the minister did make a thing of it (and I suspect it was for some political gain) but he is after all an elected member of our parliment and also involved in the farming community and knows full well what the consequences can be

Maybe this will highlight to some people that we do not tolerate ignorance of our requirements to enter the country ( and he is not the only one to do thius sort of thing People try constantly to bring in prohibited items all the time and it is why we have such pristine country (at the moment)
