Thanks for sharing,......if only it were contagious in a worldly sense.
Brought a tear as well.

How many more personalities does your wife actually have,.....than you thought she had when you married her.

Do not share the answer with her or you will soon realize she has several more.

I take all the obvious images and get them out of the way,......then really work the subject,...many times, many ways many kinds of light, many vantage points,....return often,...and discover your own ingenuity over time having many keepers along the way,...it does not stop,....your best image is always your next one.

What I do is use a screw in rubber lens shade screwed into the filter,...then just rotate the shade as needed,...problem solved.

In my experience over the years,...RAW files give more overhead to work with if you need it for your output requirement....well exposed RAW files inherent content provide that extra bit of overhead stretch,...not so on a similarly exposed jpg file should detail quality extraction be attempted,...it's just not there.

I work with many photographers who submit RAW camera files,...some submit well exposed low quality jpg's.
I experience no problem readying these low resolution jpgs for my needs as long as they are close to spot on exposure wise.
The same applies working on RGBs for print preparation,...for CMYK color space conversions for offset publication .....or for SRGB web needs.
Occasionally with photographers low res jpgs I just cannot retrieve needed non existing detail that would otherwise just be there with a good RAW image.

Personally I shoot a lot of old glass.
My pleasure in photography comes from manual shooting...it's how I cut my teeth back in the early 1960s.
I fell in love with the manual dexterity feel of it all,....my manual lenses have and still worked thru the years, they are old friends that still to this day reveal their hidden possibilities. I have always taken personal pride in my efforts when out shooting.

When I go out shooting, it's more than anything else,..."I just want to go out to use my camera".
I apply myself the best I can whatever my subject,....I rely on the inherent qualities of the older optics to continually perform to my personal expectations. I've adapted and enjoy my gear,...newer technology just doesn't interest me.
Heck I don't even own a smart phone,..just an old flip phone suffices to call the wife,..lol....maybe I don't want to be reached or talk 24/7,.....nothing personal I understand completely many frolic in the technology involved.

Anyway,...I've run tests and selected the vintage lenses that in my opinion give me the detail quality I seek. They have performed beautifully on a D7100,..D300,...D800E,.and currently a D810 camera.
A couple of my lenses have Auto focus but again,...I've never used it, don't even know how to....lol.

The work I do is primarily scenic, nature and landscape, some macro.
If I were I into birding, sports or any action based photography,....I would be at a definite disadvantage missing many a shot,.....but then again,...years ago before the technology evolved,...there were many a well known photographer that rose to the challenge capturing great images using vintage lenses of that time.

I am a techie of sorts having worked in engineering in the capacity of a mechanical design draftsman from T-squares, triangles, compass and template pencil drawings up thru computerized AutoCAD layouts. I easily adapted to using digital workflow from RAW thru completed images,.. I still use Windows 7 as well as a 2020 based version of photoshop software. I haven't any interest in new bells and whistles such as AI features.

Too much time has been invested learning the basics to have the camera control what to do, the basics are still a mainstay. I let in camera experimenting teach me thru trial and error then rationalize for the use I intend.

Sure,....I make errors,..the exposures no one ever sees,...we used to use "contact sheets" (remember those??) years ago to sort the wheat from the chaff,...was SOP back in the day....(Standard Operational Procedure)
Anyway,
I'm just an ordinary enthusiast, no one special,...driven by the creative possibilities in composition and interpretation of whatever I shoot.
Feel free to see some of my work with vintage lenses and other older gear,...(marty-saccone.pixels.com) over 700 images. A good majority of these images were taken with a late 70s vintage 70-210mm zoom Nikkor which I picked for $65.00 many years ago,.....the seller wanted to dump it because its auto focus wouldn't work on his Nikon D4. It has unexpectedly been the mechanical workhorse for this old timer.
The most recent lens I have is a 2014 Nikkor,...my others date from late 60s to 70s on up.
I just continue the manual mechanics of photography, bare bones as I can keep.

Heavy rain will be ending here in Lubec in the early AM,....we lost power for most of the day due to a fallen tree taking out power lines on Route 1,.....all is now fully restored.
We were spared heavy winds due to Lee's easterly movement as it entered the Gulf Of Maine.
Tomorrow will be sunny with temps in the low 70's.
