You mean this is where that messy stuff on railroad ties comes from? Amazing I managed to live this long without knowing that. Thanks, Jack. You made me feel like either a young dog, or a dumb one. This place is so much fun!

Dang, Chief. I ‘ve only lived out her for the last 19 years and never seen one of these, let alone, imaged one. We always had an expression in our reconnaissance tech shop “The Chief is always the Chief… even in his jockey shorts.” You’re still the man! Wonderful shot! (That expression always was preceded by Rules 1 and 2. Which I’m sure everyone knows.)

Now that these are where somebody else decided they belong I don’t mind being a pixel peeking “nit picker”. In my humble “nit witted” opinion, these are among the most impeccable images of wild life I’ve enjoyed by anybody’s standards. Bravo… Way2go, slk!

Consider the era and some of the iconic machines of the time.
The D-Type Jag; to me, wasn’t “the state of the art” it WAS the art… the body style was over the top, and the execution of the finish work impresses me to this day. Now I realize where my old ‘83 Yamaha Venture motorcycle came up with the idea of protecting as $15 headlight with a piece of glass that cost five Tim’s as the headlight itself to replace. The D Type Jaguar just makes me think it’s all worth it.😎 Thanks for the image… At best all I can rember of these cars were in black and white images wit Stirling (sp ?) Moss at the wheel..

Nice photos of the Good Guys Show. That Corvette looks really familiar. The one we did was for a guy from California. Same wheels header side pipes. Pretty close. Same hood.

Yeah but yours looks much better without the van body and surf board rack. 😎

Maybe this is why snakes have no arms… if they did they would probably have guns and be just as dangerous as “armed idiots.”😉

Have you ever had one of those images you really want but never seem to be able to nail? Of course, I suspect we all have. I seem to be developing a hefty list, but I thought I would share one that is probably as close as I'll get.

There's this huge tall tree up in the playground area where I work with my squirrels. At the very top, there is this interesting fungus. Even with my 150-600mm lens, I still can't get a decent shot, as you will see. This tree sits directly behind the picnic table where I often put peanuts for my guys, and it's not unusual for them to grab one and run up the tree. One day a squirrel did exactly that, but where he chose to sit I couldn't resist trying to capture. It's not perfect, but it is cute.

Hope you enjoy!

Cute squirrel. He looks to be a rather”fun guy!”
Sorry, couldn’t resist! Congrats on fulfilling one of your evasive exclusives!

I have had a pair of nice Serengeti Navigator sunglasses since 1995. I've misplaced them more than one time. Once I left them on the bench in front of my locker at my golf club, went home, and not finding them, went back to the club, amazed to see them still sitting there.

The oddest time, however, was at my car dealership. After waiting for maintenance on my car to be finished I looked around and couldn't fine my sunglasses. I looked everywhere in the dealership that I'd been and couldn't find them. Finally I asked somebody in the lounge if they'd seen them. They told me they were on my head. I NEVER put my glasses or sunglasses up on my head, but that day I had, and forgot that I had. No wonder I couldn't find them. I was thankful to find them but felt like a total ditz.

If you took the last image (Blue Angels) with a single (versus a burst) shot, I’d say you don’t need to practice the panning technique; you need to patent yours! C’mon… which direction were you panning, right or left🤓 Great catch!!!!

And my neighbor has 4 or 5 of these about 8 to 10 feet tall. Personally, I have probably killed 3 or 4 from Lowe’s garden shop…. You have the best shots I’ve seen yet!

Beautiful execution! Thank you for posting a single image. It lets the photo speak on its own merits. When people post more than one in the B&W section it becomes as if the photographer is in competition with himself. Nobody gets to say “My favorite is #3 “ I like that you are allowed to love more than one when they are presented separately. Good on ya’.

Alas, black and white is nostalgic for me to look at, but most of my memories are of people; friends, forever gone… nice trip down memory lane, so thank you Paul.

I’m loving the last photo, especially the interplay of backlight and shadow in the lower right-hand quadrant. Sharp; crisp; and contrasty 🤓
