This car was on the starting line at the 1957 Le Mans Race. Another D Type won the race. this car finished third. It is powered by a 6 cylinder in-line engine with double overhead cams, 3 dual-throat Weber carbs, and produced 270 HP at 6,000 RPM. An identically powered D Type topped out at 185 MPH when run at the Bonneville salt flats.

Consider the era and some of the iconic machines of the time.
The D-Type Jag; to me, wasn’t “the state of the art” it WAS the art… the body style was over the top, and the execution of the finish work impresses me to this day. Now I realize where my old ‘83 Yamaha Venture motorcycle came up with the idea of protecting as $15 headlight with a piece of glass that cost five Tim’s as the headlight itself to replace. The D Type Jaguar just makes me think it’s all worth it.😎 Thanks for the image… At best all I can rember of these cars were in black and white images wit Stirling (sp ?) Moss at the wheel..

Thanks for the visit and for commenting. I was a little surprised to see this car in blue. The British racing colors are green.

What a beautiful car in blue. I have always loved the lines of the D type. That color makes them even sexier.

All I ask is 15 minutes….doesn't seem a lot and won’t be enough, but I don’t want to be greedy…. Nice! 🤗
