Mastering the Nikon by Darrell Young is an excellent book also available as an ebook

I find that Darrell's books are up to date and easy to use. I have one for each of my Nikon cameras

I have found Thom Hogan's books just a larger rehash of the manual

mborn, how did you go from the original to the final?

First, I did basic adjustments in Lightroom, then exported to Photoshop. Use the lasso tool with contents aware to remove the gull wing on the right side of the picture. Duplicated the layer, then use Viveza to adjust the background, next utilized Color Efex Pro 2 with detail extractor and tonal contrast with control points to adjust the output. Save the image back to Lightroom and used highlight priority to add the Vignetting

Depends on what I am shooting and where I am. If I shoot events at my local Audubon Sanctuary I carry 2 camera, one for group interactions with a 28-75 lens and one with my 70-200 or my 180 Macro, depends on the event. If I am out for my self I carry on one lens , camera and tripod configuration depending on what i have decide to shoot. Now I have everything I may need in my car. But I decide what is it that I want to photograph that day and try to stick to it

I have been reading a lot on UHH touting the virtues of NIK and the special pricing and free upgrade. I already use PSE 11....so, is there any need for adding NIK software?

For NIK and other add-ons, Do you need them, Both Yes and No. Depends on how much post-processing you do and what your thoughts are on manipulation of a picture. Me I use them regularly, help make the picture pop

I use several Nik Programs and am happy with their performance. Recently, Google acquired Nik and seems to be changing Nik operations.

Today, I received an email from NIK Google stating, "To be sure you have the latest version of the Nik plug-ins, click the link below to download the Nik Collection. Your download will begin automatically."

I called them and they said that my programs had updates available...and this would update each and everyone of them. A universial update for all (no selection on my part).

My belief in the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is very strong.

My question is, have any of you received an email from Nik offering you the universial update, and if so, did you do it? and where there any problems?

I am interested in having the latest upgrades...but worried about updating them all ( the existing versions would be delated from my computer...so no going back!

Great offer, they are giving the entire collection to anyone who has bought one of the previous modules. I upgrades and all work fine. So update and enjoy

You need to format the card in the camera in which it will be used
