I have a L120. It's on loan to my son. It is a basic point and shoot camera. I don't consider it a bridge camera because it does not do manual and priority settings. Just my opinion. If I had it to do over again I would not buy the L120. I'd spend more for a better camera. I like my Nikon L16 camera better and that's a $100.00 camera.

I made the transition from film to digital with a D50. It is still, years later, the only DSLR I own. Would not part with it for anything. The D50 is a entry level camera with a top LCD and a built in focus motor. It takes amazing pictures, amazing enough, that I have felt no need to upgrade. I have an external flash similar to the SB400. It will not take an external battery pack.

I belong Photography Bay and receive their news letters. They have a section of "Readers Submissions". I always look at them because they are so well done. Thought I'd share them with this group.

In this case, the long thread has gotten positive results. No more postings from the individual who's private pm's caused the problem in the first place. Do you think, knowing his ego as we do, that a few polite " Please refrain from demeaning fellow list members" would have sufficed to teach him a lesson? After all, we were promised an even longer response from him that never came about. That's after many many members voiced their opinions about his rude behavior. I too want this thread to end but it accomplished it's purpose. I know, for one, I have not received any private pm's from him lately.

The sad part is, he really thinks he has talent. Moreover, anything we say will make little difference because of his gigantic ego. All you have to do is look at his avatar to see how pompous he is. His whole concept of himself is "Photographer". Take that away from him and he becomes nothing. If my ego was vested in my photography(like his) I'd give it up. It's an avocation not a vocation for me. Truly gifted men, like Mr. Hicks and others, don't have to brag about themselves. Their work does that for them.

I use two gig cards with my Nikon D-50. That is the limit the D-50 can use.

The most telling thing about his photo's on flicker is their 100% no comment by viewers. Because of his ego this has got to rile him. I bet one negative comment would cause him to bring down his site. His ego couldn't take it. I also bet you will never see another public comment by him on this board. They just pack up their bags and go to another site to bull _hit people.

Oops! forgot to put "to" in my last post. I quote,"the list not use all caps..... " It should be "the list not to use all caps....."

Now I can sleep soundly.

Well put Jackinthebox.

When I read the original post I knew the sh_it was going to hit the fan. Within a few posts we had people (good members of this list) who felt alienated because they thought they had poor grammer or spelling skills. Myself included. Just what I was afraid of. I'm 71 years old and I have never met a "grammer policeman" that did not (even in their own postings against poor spelling and grammer) commit the same errors they accuse others of. Hypocrisy is a far worse sin than poor spelling. I think you, Jackinthebox, pointed that out rather well to the list. I have also read warnings given to new people on the list not use all caps in their posts. BIG DEAL. How does that hurt anyone for god's sake. It's sillyness (sp)

Apr 11, 2012 – GOOD news: Lots of people suffered from dyslexia! ... Alexander Graham Bell, Leonardo da Vinci, Ansel Adams, Tommy Hilfinger, Henry Ford, ... I'm just a bad speller, (I'm that too) but my brother has it worse, (he was officially ..

Let's see? Ansel Adams suffered from dyslexia and was a terrible speller. He would have had a real problem with the resident English teachers on this list.

I'm glad knowing how to spell is not a requisite of being a member of this board. I am a terrible speller. I have attended maybe 30 photography courses over the years and never once have I been asked, by an instructor, if I knew how to spell. What difference does it make as long as the post is majority understood. They don't have spell checkers in cameras because they are not needed. Maybe that's why aboriginal people, given cameras, take such awesome pictures. They don't know how to spell.

National Camera (Exchange) is where I purchase all my photo gear. We are lucky to have such a place in Minnesota. 10 min's away from my home. My friend has the camera you are looking at and he loves it.

I'm like you. I love the diversity on this list. Even the occasional ass. If a person is really out of line and rude believe me the majority on this list will set him/her straight in a heartbeat. The lists I hate are the ones where there is no rebuttal to rude and cruel posts. This is a very unique list. If for no other reason, we have a group of awesome pro's that are willing to help out at any time.
