I have the Canon 50D and am drooling over the Canon 50D Mark ii. Does anyone have that camera? Can you give me pros and cons (if any) and differences in these two cameras? Convince me I need it! LOL

Also, thought about renting camera to try it out. Do any of you rent equipment and if is, any recommendations on rental places?

Thanks.

Do you mean the 5D MK II?

All I can say is....get it. It's SUPERB!

If you've seen what comes out of this camera then you'd plunk the money down now!

Here is an article to convince you:

Beware! If you have "less than stellar" lenses you will know about it!

Might I suggest you check out the Canon 135mm f/2?

You will drool all over your keyboard when you see what this lens can do.....

PS: Lensrentals.com will rent this camera. I'm sure there are other places.

Personally, I'd save the 150.00 towards buying one.

This is a shot taken with my 5DII with a 50mm f/1.4

Is there a big learning curve with this camera?...I am very familiar with everything on my 50D. I was thinking about a Trade-in with my 50D but I have several photo things coming up and I don't want to have problems. Thanks, I guess. I was hoping you were going to tell me not to get it..lol.

I would say no. I came from a t2i which is a LONG way from the 5D2 and I was comfortable right away.

I couldn't tell you that....there is no way I'd lie to you that way... :)

definitely rent one and try it out. as stated, better have great lenses with this camera.

rent one and try it out..if you really want one, i'll make you a great deal on one.

pros and cons....

all pros and only 1 con....autofocus in low light takes awhile. i use my 7d in low light and it's a speed demon on autofocus.

i'm saving for the new 1D

hang in there. i promised it to another forum member that i gave through may to come up with the money. if he backs out, i will pm you immediately.

the camera is like new....only about 1500 pictures shot on it. it has the canon battery grip. no marks or scratches on it at all. i bought it last october from national camera in minneapolis. i also bought the extended warranty with accident protection (so it's covered until october, 2013). i am asking $1700. no wheeling dealing and no trading. i can take paypal or a bank check. i will pay the priority shipping with insurance.
