National Camera (Exchange) is where I purchase all my photo gear. We are lucky to have such a place in Minnesota. 10 min's away from my home. My friend has the camera you are looking at and he loves it.

say, did you hit the lottery or something? you just bought a 5d and i think i read that you bought some great lenses also. that's cool, cause now i can say i know a rich guy!!!
Lol...nope..you could say that I'm very poor...for the next 6 or 8 months!
Bob,
There seems to be a lot of that going on with members of this forum. I wonder if it is some kind of virus? Should I check my computer or my temperature?

I have both and while there are a few more bells and whistles on the 5D II, the biggest difference is in the quality of the images. If I'm shooting a wedding, the 5D II is my go-to body, but when I'm lucky enough to have an assistant, she uses the 50D. I love both, I use both. I'm going to Italy in October to connect with recently found family and I'll be taking the 5D.

Is there a big learning curve with this camera?...I am very familiar with everything on my 50D. I was thinking about a Trade-in with my 50D but I have several photo things coming up and I don't want to have problems. Thanks, I guess. I was hoping you were going to tell me not to get it..lol.
As far as a learning curve is concerned there isn't too much more to learn because the menu's are pretty much the same on both cameras. I own both of them and the difference in image size between them using the EF 24-105 f/4.0L IS USM lens is truly amazing!
Hi Creakj -- I assume you already have EF mount lenses, not EF-S mount, as the latter would be incompatible with the 5D Mark ii (you must have known that, but just in case). I am more of a newbie than most on this site. I went from a T2i to a 5DMii recently and nervously, given the investment, and I would never, ever "go back." I echo everything others have said here. I needed a few hours to read through the book to get familiar with the shooting modes and menus, but found it easy to get the basics. (The T2i has very different menus than the 50D, and even so I found it easy to learn--I expect it will be a breeze for you.)I also purchased a nice flash--the Canon 580-and cant believe the quality and ease of getting gorgeous shots.
I don't know about the results you have gotten with your 50D, but I can say that the 21.1 mp has made cropping much more versatile, which is a huge plus for me. I am most impressed of all by the lack of "noise" in lower light. The difference is profound. I can't say enough about it.
So, newish-bie on a somewhat tight budget says Thumbs Up on the 5DMii. I have so much confidence now in my results that I have become the unofficial, volunteer (for now) photographer at special events at my college--events that are important to participants but don't "merit" a paid peofessional. That's how good the results are for someone with a good eye, a passion, but not a lot of training.
Thanks for the "thumbs up" and info.
Not to be a pest but wondering when you might know if other member is coming thru with cash? Would love to get this camera and a little practice before wedding I am doing on May 19th. I saw one for $150. more on EBay. Would feel more comfortable dealing with you. Thanks.

Just to let you know; I bought a used one from Adorama a few weeks ago for $1,700.00 in "EX+" shape (which is excellent plus; basically mint) so If you need it fast and you need it reliable, I'd go with Adorama or B&H....its' all the same price. (but they aren't giving a battery grip with it as the person here is.)
Has anyone got the Canon 5D Mk III yet? If so, please share your thoughts on it.
If you are going to purchase it, how much are you planning on selling your current camera for?
AustinLockwood - not sure who your question was for, if me, then it would be a while before I do purchase one, my old camera is a Rebel XTi and I will probably just keep it as a back up for daylight photography. Thanks for asking and if I change my mind about selling it - I'll let you know.
By all means go for it. That full sized receptor on the 5D is a big factor in getting superior results in the color pallet and overall acuity, even more so than extended pixel count!
