16 gig is the biggest I have.
I'm afraid to put "all my eggs in one basket"

I have a 32gb, 16gb, and many 8gb. I rarely get more than a few gig on them before uploading them to my pc and backup drive. I prefer the 8gb for the reasons already stated here.

Current sdXC standard allows up to 128 GB, but pricy...

Does shooting video change the size of the card you use?

I use either 16GB and 32GB for video camera. Use 8GB and 16 GB in DSLR. Work smoothly.

The largest I use is an 8 gig card. I don't want to go any larger than that so I don't have to worry about losing too many photos should something go wrong with the card. I regularly download to my computer and back up on cd but don't erase my card all the time.

I use two gig cards with my Nikon D-50. That is the limit the D-50 can use.

I currently use nothing larger than a 16mb, and prefer 8gb cards because I an afraid that putting too much on one card risks disaster. I do not think that 4gb cards are too small.

Yes.
Video eats up a bunch more card than pictures.

Mostly 4 and a couple of 8. As I don't (can't) shoot video I can't see the appeal of even 8s (which came as premiums with magazine subscriptions). Even an 8 holds hundreds of 18-megapixel Raw files. Like haroldross, I download reasonably often, except when I'm travelling, and even on a long trip, I've yet to fill up more than about 30 gig in total.

Cheers,

R.

I have a couple of 8's and 16's but the cards that stay in my cameras are 32's.

I had 4GB but went to 8GB. I download regularly, so I have plenty of space and I carry at least 2 of the 8's.

32 gig, Gives me about 90 minutes of video. When shooting stills I download daily.
