Sad to hear. I used to be a more active participant there, on the Canon and Fuji forums, and still use it to curb any GAS attacks. Yes, that's a neat new camera, but all the extra stuff it does above my current equipment is not worth 4 digits, at least to me.

Every now and then, when I start my home Win 10 PC, the "Upgrade to Win 11" screen pops up. I have Win 11 at work and find some of the "improvements" to be annoying. So each time I have to carefully navigate through the screens to finally find the "continue with Win 10" button.

My car is from 2019, before Massachusetts and other states changed to mileage based exit numbers. Every now and then the manufacturer offers to update my GPS for new roads and the new exit numbers for...$149. No thank you. The lady still says all the usual "prepare to exit in one mile", etc., just fine.

I assume you are talking about the Denali train, not the ship because we had several suitcases to support almost a two week trip. On the train, I had my Lowepro sling bag (SL250AW) and my wife had a small backpack. The train has what look like airline seats, 2 on each side of the aisle, with no overhead rack because that would block the view. So whatever you carry will be either in your lap or underfoot. There's no room for extra baggage. I didn't see them measuring bags or anything.

BTW, if you will be on the Grand Princess, the perfect spot for Glacier bay, etc, is on the promenade deck, all the way forward. This requires going up a couple small stairways. But you will be at the bow, but under a roof (one deck down from the "I'm king of the world" spot). This can be important because it only rains about 400 days a year up there.... This was mentioned at the naturalist's talk, but not many folks listened or discovered it, so it wasn't too crowded. The ship was about half full on that cruise

And yes, it can be cold. Here's that spot at the bow while in Glacier Bay. See how folks were dressed.

We did the Alaska cruise on the Grand Princess early last July. I had my Canon APS-C with the kit 55 - 250 and my G9x. There were a few times, the wildlife cruise in Ketchikan, the otters and eagles in glacier bay, or for the large critters in the Denali park, when I clearly could have used something longer. A lady had... maybe the same 600 mentioned above, and showed us some of her results. Clearly better photos than I got, but you have to ask yourself how much do you want to drag around...

I still have the Argus C3, case, and flash that the family had back in the day, like the one at the top of the page. And my Nikomat and several lenses too, from over a decade later than the C3. I keep telling myself I should sell them, but maybe if I hold on a little longer the collector values will go up... or maybe not...

To my eye, this appears to be one of the early '70's GM land yachts cited above, customized by someone who's artistic standards... let's say "differ from mine". Should have saved this one for April 1.

Stayed on the Queen Mary during the Long Beach Grand Prix back when it was a Formula 1 race ('78). A crazy weekend. Ronnie Peterson held the elevator for us when we arrived. Dinner one evening next to Rob Walker and the Fittipaldi team. Bumped into Dennis Jenkinson at one of the press events. Those of you who were race fans back in the day will recognize those names.

It was fun touring the ship off hours, going places we weren't supposed to go, etc.

Heard a bang from the attached garage one evening. took a quick look, but nothing looked out of place. The first thing I noted the next morning was a chunk of brick from the chimney, on the garage floor. A spring had broken, without a safety cable, and thankfully attacked the chimney rather than my antique car. Cables were added to all the springs (two doors) that day

Last week the volume control buttons on my old Samsung S10e started to get intermittent. Thinking that maybe the protective case it was in was causing the issue, I pried the protective case off. Surprise! I had a bit more of a problem than the volume controls. Despite working just fine, the battery was in the process of failing and had inflated to the point where it lifted the back of the case off, and my protective case was the only thing holding it together. Same failure mechanism as our camera batteries, so be careful.

Needless to say, this photo was taken with my new S22.

Several times my cousin said he'd built his last Model A, even after he retired to Cape Cod. But before long a frame would arrive in his garage. Couldn't let it go to scrap, he said. Then an engine... then a body... and before you knew it, there's be another car headed to the painter's shop. He passed a few years back, but his son has a model A pickup project in his garage...

Stage lighting can be challenging. If you shoot any with available light, you may not want to believe your camera's meter. Look at your histograms and look at the "blinkies" that identify any blown out stuff in your image.

I bought their AC powered angle grinder a bunch of years back. It gets used 3 or 4 times a year, rusty bolts or cutting metal, whatever. I used it to cut bricks for our front walkway, thinking that if all the abrasive dust killed it, that's OK, given the price I paid. Still working fine.
