Taken some years ago, this Tucker Prototype was at the same show as the two Auburn Speedsters posted earlier. Scanned from slide and converted to B+W.

Nice shots.

It looks like Buick stole the rear-end design.

Interesting front end. Back end looks like Buick Riviera.

That is without a doubt the UGLIEST car (Riviera) that I've EVER seen! Where does the '46 come from, I wonder?

1971
1971...

1972
1972...

1973
1973...

Yep… my thoughts eggsactly. After peeking at some more historical images on Google, I think it’s probably more likely that Tucker may have been a, or friend, of Harley Earl😉.

The back looks similar to the Buick Riveria.

Wow! Interesting car… really like the front fenders that articulated with the front wheels. Certainly unique in that respect. Also like the boat tail rear end… that Buick apparently copied some years later for the Riviera. Thanks for sharing this photo!

The title " '46 Tucker Torpedo Prototype" is a misnomer. The basic body of the car shown is a '71 or '72 Riviera (see the photos I included earlier) and in no way was around in 1946. They didn't build cars that way. By "that way" I mean the basic structure...the windows, doors, bumpers, etc., etc. If there was a sign on the car saying that it was '46, it had to be in jest. I'll bet the ranch on this one! Ugly, isn't it ?

To my eye, this appears to be one of the early '70's GM land yachts cited above, customized by someone who's artistic standards... let's say "differ from mine". Should have saved this one for April 1.

That's because it IS a Buick Riviera.
