While I was in town yesterday, I saw a new sign, "HARBOR FREIGHT." It's in the building that used to be Office Depot, so it's huge. I'll have to get a good night's sleep and fortify my sales resistance before I visit for the first time.

The best tools are not too bad but the cheapest are not worth the money. I have purchased numerous items there. Stay away from the batteries.

I've had similar experience.

I bought a Bauer cordless drill from HF. It's the best I've ever owned...better than the Ridgid, Bosch, or Ryobi drills that I had over the years.

The Predator inverter generator I have is superb.

The cheap grinder is terrifying to use...sounds like it's going to come apart!

Jerry I think it's just your kind of store. You will have to have a lot of will power not to buy something but then they tend to have free stuff too.

A skilled mechanic who is a friend of mine described HF tools as follows "They're ok for home use but I would not want to make my living with them." Overall my personal experience with their products has been good (home use of course.) Their warranties are generally good.

I bought their AC powered angle grinder a bunch of years back. It gets used 3 or 4 times a year, rusty bolts or cutting metal, whatever. I used it to cut bricks for our front walkway, thinking that if all the abrasive dust killed it, that's OK, given the price I paid. Still working fine.

Join their loyalty program. You'll get sale brochures in the mail with good coupons.

My first visit was a walk through. I saw where things were and how much they were. It was an OK store. Not everything was sub par as some state. There's some good stuff as well. I think you might enjoy it. Give us your thoughts tomorrow.

Right. In comparison tests, some of their tools are as good as any.

Beware everything from china. Good cheap prices, cheap made junk. Stick to American made in Lowes when you can. China sells us CRAP!

It's hard to find anything that isn't made in China, no matter where you shop.

??????? Few of the tools sold in Lowes are American made. Majority are Chinese made. I don't like to buy stuff from China but.... they do make products from the best to the worst. The American??? seems like they don't make much or anything these days.
