Hi all,
I am trying to decide on a new camera purchase. Currently I have a Canon 60D which I have had many years of enjoyment. I know the value of full frame having shot with film years ago. I just don't know if mirrorless is a necessity. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I just traded in my Nikon D750 in on a Z6... mainly for the weight considerations; we travel a lot internationally & all the gear got to my aging physical frame. I also got the adapter so I could use my old 24-70 f/2.8. Looked at the new Z 24-70 f/4, but want to take another trip early next year

Before I moved to FF, I shot with a Nikon D300S and traveled with a Sigma 18-250. Loved the combo. Just one man's opinion!

Fabulous; I have been to Paris many times over the years and taken many photos of the Eiffel Tower, but your artistry and composition shames me!

We just got back from two trips to Europe: England in May & France this month (river cruise from Lyon to Avignon). Took same "outfit" both times: Nikon D750 & 24-70/f2.8. There were a few times I wished for additional reach, but couldn't pull the trigger fast enough on a new 28-300, and not willing to invest in the 70-200 right now. Having no back up lens is a risk, but so is changing lens is one as well. Just one man's opinion.

This does not apply if you live on the Gulf Coast.. FLA AL MS and probably Texas. Wal Mart and Best Buy are not exactly camera stores. I don’t believe there is a full service camera store in any of these states. And throw in Tennessee as well.

That is not true for Texas...there is a store named Houston Camera Exchange (mentioned elsewhere in this thread) and in the Dallas area, we have Competitive Camera and another store in Arlington, Texas (Dallas metroplex) named "Arlington Camera Store." I have shopped at both and been satisfied.

This is a long post; I admit that I did not read each entry, but got the gist of the replies. I entered the Nikon world in the early 90’s with a Nikon film camera (SLR — actually don’t remember which one).

Moved to a P&S, then to a series of Nikon choices: D50, D90, D300S, D700 & last Christmas, bought a D750. (Current lens most frequently used: Nikkor 24-70 f2.8)
I basically used the same strategy with each of them: buy a book based on Amazon reviews of the particular camera, set to “Auto” & grow from there...generally using Aperture mostly. Got to Manual on the D700, but not there completely on the D750.

I am a “semi-serious” avid amateur at the best, but enjoy travel, landscape & grandkids photography. My method may not excite the purists, but it works for a guy in his late 70’s!

thanks to everyone for nice comments Rome is "Caput Mundi" (the head of the world )

We were in Rome last fall; our driver in from FCO was an awfully pleasant fellow who said several times -- once we got into Rome proper -- that "Roma, (was) the capital of the world." Based on historic buildings, there is probably some merit to that claim. My wife and I go to Italy almost every year....missed this one due to trips to England & France...

We went to China seven years ago; all I took was my trusty D90 and a 16-85 F3.5 lens. It didn't have all the reach I would have liked, but in reviewing the pictures I took, many of were people / street scenes, and so I don't think I missed much of anything. I now have moved through that camera to a D300S / 17-55 F2.8 to a D700 with a 24-70 f2.8 and now a D750 with the 24-70...while I occasionally lust for a 70-200 or 200-500, I still travel with the D750/24-70 and get all the pics I seem to need.

We sold our house earlier this month. We interviewed 3 realtors who took pictures with a cell phone. When we selected the final agent, she hired a pro for the MLS photos. I saw the work on-line and it was excellent; unfortunately, we were out of the country when the photos were taken so I have no idea of his methodology, equipment, etc.

Made this trip 2X; once w/D300S / 17-55f2.8,
Second D700 w/24-70 f/2.8...both lenses are Nikon. Great coverage w/sufficient reach (read cropping)

Made this trip in May 2018. Lots of photo ops. We did the Basel up Amsterdam routing.

There was scenery all over the place...Alpine scenes, canals & fabulous museums in Amsterdam, etc. I took my D700 & trusty Nikkor 24/70f2.8. That selection took care of my needs; I was a bit worried about interior shots (w/out wide lens( but it seemed to take care of itself!)
